There are no KO4 variant turbos with any larger exducer bore. There is one that is slightly smaller that this but still larger than the stocker by 1.5mm.

We might simply have to decide whether you want to run 255kpa from 3-4K and have a turbo that flows 36.5lbs/min (3 more than stock)

Or program your PCm to run 220kpa until 4K then run 255 until 7500 with 400horsepower flywheel possible.

So you don't think there's a fix to get 255kpa through the whole range? You haven't tried opening up the exhaust and intercooler yet.

I am assuming this is with ALL stock components except the larger wheel.
How much HP with this setup?
Also like Ender has said what would happen to a car with better flowing exhaust and IC?

Not sure yet, I havent seen any logs from those who do.

It jsut simply cannot be run at 220+kpa from 19-23lbs min. So long as that window's avoided it wont surge..

Like I have opened up with a SOLO CAT to Norms custom center and DEJON CAI.
All that can be done on...uh ah
Rod, mmm ah uh...
Flashes and Learning is done, nothing more on the tool can be done

Ok, I have two dyno pulls left, time for those then

Lets get busy, I sleep minutes from Mooresville and PCM next week and the week of 10/6

Dave and I have talked about IC's and pipes and I need to work Piedmont area

Ok, you know anybody near me or do we want to get Alvin at PCM in Mooresville involved.
I could leave Sunday and run over there to him Monday or on to DDM also.

All I need bud is someone with HPT to post a 3rd gear pull. down an onramp, on a dyno etc.

with
1) stock turbo
2)aftermarket exhuast
3) optionally an intercooler

The wheel in between our stocker and the one I have in there right now would likly be 35-50 hp increase over stock. But this is purely speculative, I havent recieved a copy of it's map yet. Nor will I take the map as gospel this time.

I wrote a new boost map that curtails the surge region. It actually is pretty nice, it pulls real well off the bottom then get's it's second wind out at 4K and keeps on going to 7400. 2500-7400 is a WIDE powerband and I have already seen a peak of 39lbs/min all stock and only 20psi.

pulls real sweet until COT protection goes to 10-1 afr.

Are you going to experiment with the 1.5mm exducer plus the larger inducer you have right now?.

There is no larger exducer that can be used on the Ko4.
The +1.5mm over stock inducer is whats availible. Its the wheel in between the stocker and the biggest that goes on there.

It would be a step backward in horsepower in exchange for a higher peak torque value. from 3-4K only.
As it is right now Im near the edge of max shaft speed at 7500rpm. In my opinion it's a better trade off to run a slightly low pressure near torqe peak, have enough turbo to carry out another 1300rpm over stock and ultimatly make more average horsepower and torque.

The middle wheel is out of stock right now. When they(Borg Warner) get some made I'll be notified, but I'm not sure when that will be. It's likely that the wheel will cost the same as will machining so perhaps i can offer both to suit the tastes of the individual.

I'm going to tighten up gate preload a bit to fight some of the TIP over 7K. and write the Boost map to just stay at 19psi until your over 4300, where the stock turbo fell off. then up to 250kpa until redline.

I could clip the turbine a bit to increase up top flow, but it will cost us several hundred rpm in boost threshold and response time. It also might avoid the surge region if it increased mass flow or decresed the likelyhood fo actually producing that pressure at those R's.

What's everyone's opinion? clip 10 deg off the back of the turbine blades and take a hit on the low end for some top end power?

If a clip would allow full boost for its entire spool range, then I'd take a few hundred RPM spool hit.

Non Clipped:
2500rpm - 4000rpm: 19psi
4000rpm - 7400rpm: 23psi

vs.

Clipped:
2800rpm - 7400rpm: 23psi

I won't miss the 300 rpm of boost for 1200rpm of higher boost!

But please try a free flowing exhaust first.

I feel the same way BTF.
Hopefully other people will also give their opinion.
Brady\Martin (Tuners) could one of you guys, or Lyndon\Dave could give BTF an HPT log as he was requesting earlier on this thread(see post 190).
Also any member like JustMike could also give him that info, so we can move forward please.
