Basically it was going to cost a foolish amount to fix the turbo ( I outsource the rebuild/balance to a large diesel chain)

I feel bad for LV, he was told by the person who sold it to him that it was in A1 usable condition. It most certainly is not. It looks like it's had a real rough life, very corroded.

The 2 usable things on the turbo are the turbine housing (not even cracked in the middle like everyone else's!)
and Actualtor. It's plating is nasty looking, Id paint it with some shiny silver paint.

Sounds like a piece of garbage...can LV file a despute??

I called the company a week ago and they said they were going to send me a RMA form to return the turbo.
As of this writing the form has not arrive.
If it is not here by the end of the week, I will file a dispute with my Credit card company.
Although the Credit Card Company has already been paid.

If you've only tried to get a refund once, I'd give them another try. People are busy.

Doesn't matter whether the CC company has been paid. You'll get your money back if found in your favor.

Exactly what ender said...keep trying...you deserve to get a return on the money you spent for a bogus turbo that was advertised in the wrong condition.

LV just dont wait too long and you should be ok. I learned that lesson once upon a time on an E bay item.

Credit card companies are quite easy to work with. I was scammed on ebay for 800 bucks and the card company took my statement over the phone, sent a form that had it on there and a place for me to add anything else and I signed it and got my money back in a few days.

Called the company again today, and they said the form was send on the 27th.
I'd checked to make sure they had the correct addres etc.
It should be here either today or tomorrow, I hope.

UPDATE:
Just received a prepaid UPS shipping label to return the turbo.

So just to regather on the upgrade.

The surge cant be removed by tuning with the stock parts. The hope is to be able to get rid of it with upgraded parts with higher flow (ICs cats and exhausts) and tuning. Is this right?

UPDATE UPDATE
I just purchased a Turbocharger with the help of one of our supporting vendors.
Performance Autowerks is where the OEM BW K04 is coming from.
It will be guarantee to be good and with less than 3000 miles.
Dave is going to send it directly to BTFRacing, this way BTF gets it by Wednesday or Thursday and he can then start the wheel upgrade.
Hopefully by next week then the tuner vendors can start the test.

Surge is non existant if you run factory boost levels. The extra hp comes from revvin' to 7400rpm and not having the turbo sign off by 5200. It just keeps on pullin'.

If you run higher than stock psi, you must program it in above 4000rpm or there is the possiblity of compressor surge. Empirical data from several cars with high flow supporting mods suggest that high boost at low revs MAY be possible. I reserve judgement until I have one on a car with said supporting hardware.

It should be there today or tomorrow at the latest.
AT least that was what USPS told me when I use priority mail.

So how far can we rev up the LNF before we start needing new springs? Did you push the limiter until you saw float? Seems like GM could have paired the turbo a bit better if it can rev so high.

i've got a little bit of head work done to my car, with shims under my springs upping the seat pressure about 10 lbs, and balance shaft blanks, and i run my car out to ~7800 a couple times a day with absolutely no problems. 7400 should be plenty safe for a stock car. if i remember correctly i read somewhere the balance shafts limited how high you could rev well before valve float was an issue.
