I'd find everything annoying and depressing too if I lived in Detriot.

Too Bad

Kinda interesting on all the perspectives.....

I didnt buy my coupe to go on long trips.... I didnt buy it to take out in weird weather to decide half way through to take the top off.

In fact, before I even got to the dealer, we made a no food, no hauling rule, so it stays nice.

Yes I was disappointed in the interior, but I am disappointed in almost every interior. But seeing what I see, I can make the interior whatever I want and not cost me an arm and a leg.

It would have been nice to have seen a full leather interior as an option, but.... it might have priced out a few more people.

So, thats it? What was that, 100 words?! Ever get the idea that it was Friday at 4pm, and this moron realized he had not done a car review yet? For those that missed it, I'll copy it below:

The Solstice Coupe is not good. It has plastic inside it, and the top does not go down. I do not like it. It is bad. You can not haul lumber in it. It is bad. I do not like it.

Again, this is like having the First Baptist Church ladies knitting club do a review of off road vehicles. I'm willing to bet they are not going to like it. This ass clown obviously is not the intended audience for the Solstice Coupe. He does not "get it". He should continue doing reviews for Toyota Corollas, something that he can relate to, and wants. For those of us who actually ENJOY BEING ALIVE, we can consider the fun cars out there. As someone else already said, considering he lives in Detroit, he has already shown he places NO value on beauty, enjoying life and fun things.

Its weird. When the Solstice first came out, the auto press knew it was an inexpensive niche market roadster intended for fun. They reviewed it that way and loved it. Now, they try to make it a sports sedan or a car that costs $10-20k more and grump. Still say its fun to drive, but whine, whine, whine. Ah well, does not take the shine off mine!!

I look at it this way. The original concept coupe had a solid top. GM could have made the production coupe the same and no one would have said squat. But they gave you this option. How cool is that? All the cold weather owners should absolutely love it over the 'vert especially during the winter. And it is far the better looking of the two and there is no "SKY" version and it will much more limited and unique, and I could go on and on.

However in the warmer climates I would still prefer the 'vert. I con"vert" mine all the time sometimes 4 times a day if I am shopping/parking.

Hi time for a reality check for all those writers out they feel compelled to trash the Solstice. My wife fell in love with a silver or cool 2007 GXP. Fact no1 because of the incredible comparison in the 3 major car mags of Miata vs Solstice and having three different writers proclaim that while the Miata a million more times fun to drive and therefore the really best choice. (by the way incredible all three writers chose the same phrase,"A million times more fun to drive" That doesn't even sound like something an american would say?? You know the Japanese have a saying, Ho-cowoiu which, loosely translated says I pay, you say. But anyway who am I to question these fine writers. So off I went with My wife to see this amazing car. After a test ride and a really good look around I want to know how much does Masda pay you writers. All three downplayed the fact that the Solstice this was the best looking car in the last 20 years and the Miata looks like a bar of soap worn down at one end. Altho it was supposed to be a critique of the Solstice they kept coming back to The Miata Why?? This Miata must be some little car. Guess what? we must have missed that.
The part where 15in. and 16in. Japanese wheels are far superior than 18in American. 160 hp is so much more responsive than 260 hp Solstice.. DUH? now what really gets me!
The top. Each of these supposed experts had nothing good to say about Solstice tops.
First what they missed while complaining how confusing operating the top is that it is a beautiful thing to look at , Best looking top on a sports car. We took the Miata for a spin. The auto top weighs about 15 pounds and squeaks. yes quick tight turn, and if you want a louder squeak then you apply the brakes while in a real tight turn. Now these fine writers have a standard saying. In a European car the dash is called spartan! In a japanese car the dash is called minimalist! In an American car it is called cheap plastic. Trust me, we have a late model Honda Accord, A 2009 BMW M3 and all dash boards are cheap plastic even a 65,000 Bmw has a great big piece of cheap plastic.
You have to be a writer or a dye hard Miata fan to take one over a Solstice.
My wife has 17,000 miles on the Solstice and absolutely loves everything about it.
Not one complaint..... Nice going Pontiac we will miss you And Miata will once again be the best selling sports car in America as soon as Pontiac making Solstice.
P.S. People still stop and comment on my wife's beautiful car it is a shame that the union
that made it impossible for GM TO compete against 11 dollar an hour rice rockets that have lousy medical and poor retirement plans for their workers now own a big share of GM which means the cars will become less competitive but since the Gov. (Obama) owns most of GM he will just subsides them like the trains so that like the trains and the nations teachers they will continue to reap rewards that they do not deserve. SAD

Solstice GXP Coupe

What a load of hogwash.

I own a Coupe, so I may be just a little bit biased. Consider though where I am as I write this, I am in Denver, Colorado at the 4th Annual North American Solstice & Sky Meet. I drove my Coupe from the Kansas City area with the soft-top stowed and with enough stuff for my wife and I for 5 days in the car.

Yes, even in Michigan can you do the same. You plan ahead and buy the soft-top. You put it on the car when the chance of heavy snow is done, because you can get sunny days even in late winter, so you will be ready when the sun pops out.

We have another gentleman here in his Coupe who came from northeast Arkansas. He had his soft-top stowed and luggage for him and his wife in the car. What was the reporter trying to take on a trip, if he even tried?

The Solstice Coupe and convertible require a different packing mentality than that of the SUV driving crowd. You learn to take with you what you will need, not what you want.

If your attitude is that you shouldn't have to change how you have done things in the past then this car is probably not for you. However, my wife and I enjoy the opportunity to travel and remove the top of our Solstice GXP Coupe every chance we can.

This is a rewrapped review of the Solstice Convertible only adding a b*tch about the unstowable top to it.

Seriously, this guy must have taken past reviews of the covertible, used cut and paste, and then threw in a comment about the hard top and stowable soft top. This reviewer lacks originality and truly offers nothing new.

Add me to the list of people sick and tired of the complaining about the stowage/luggage capacity. The Sky & Solstice are 2 seaters built for fun. My car is just that... a car I drive for fun... Its not a Sh*t Hauler!!! If you wanted the car to haul stuff you seriously made a poor buying decision. DAMN IT JIM!!! ITS A SPORTS CAR...NOT A TRUCK!!!!

One other comment I don't want to ever hear again is about the plastic interior. This is a $20,000 to $30,000 roadster/coupe (depending on the model, incentives, and negotiating skills one gets). Its not a $60,000 + loaded Audi, BMW, Corvette, ETC..... If they were to offer something different, the price would be significantly more. I agree that GM should have offered an enhanced interior package as an option. However, if thats what you want, it can be done... simply pay a visit to our friends over a JPM.

I will agree with his point that the removable top should have been designed to stow in the car. GM should have figured that one out somehow. However, the soft top option is a great alternative it a pinch.

Other than that, this is a "REBADGED" review that I could have lived without.

The guy is paid for his opinion. So he doesn't like the Sol? ah well, there won't be many more reviews of this car in the future, so we won't have to endure these slings and arrows for long. Don't worry, be happy.
