Setup TV show producer Am I the only one who wants to stomp the Setup show producer?

Having raced around this country for 16 years, I cannot believe I'm the only one who wants to stomp the Setup TV show producer into dust. I'd pay real money for five minutes with that guy in the ring!

He doesn't have a clue on how to run a race, he lets his personal feelings effect the out come to the races which is worse than fixing the event. This is America, not some hokey, local yocal race track where one power monger can make decisions. Tommy Kendall, always leans the producers way, even though he should know better, shame, shame, Tommy...

There isn't a racer out there, that believes this Setup show is valid racing in any stretch of the imagination. There is just too much amaeuturish officiating going on to even be considered to be a fair race event.

Pontiac, producing probably the best two seater available today has no business getting involved with a show this amateurish. The producer -when he was involved in the bike building show, should have been put in his place then by one of the bikers, this time he's messing with racers, and racers will -at least the ones we raced with for all those years, would take him off to the side and give him what he deserves a good B**** slapping! The guy simply doesn't have a clue...

Sorry, but the producer is a joke and Speed Channel, as well as Pontiac and the rest of the show sponsors need to pull his plug quickly! They are making real racers and the impressive Solstice automobile, look worse than poor supplying this show with such a quality product to be abused in this faction. The show is a joke.

Unfortunately, this show is not about actually trying to find new talent, but is rather about *entertainment*. The whole "reality" show thing is about creating chaos, making people "go after each other", and drama. People like us who watch the show wanting to see the motorsports side of it are in the minority. It is all about "the show", not finding a new racing star....

Yeah I completely agree. It seems that most of the people on the show don't even deserve to be called a racer. Granted I haven't raced on a track and all but seriously look how many times these guys drop there wheels into the dirt, spin out of control, miss shift, crash into one another, etc. I never heard the winner of last season doing anything special and I doubt anyone here will.

What would be cool is if they let a professional racer run a few hot laps on the course before the set up drivers. That way you can reference whether these guys are legit or just to create a dramatic atmosphere by using the times they post. Also this would make the "racers" not out after each other but rather for the best time possibly preventing unnecessary crashes.

The thought occured to me that he was a little abrasive. But then I realised that it's reality TV and that the proper human dynamic must be retained. It needs to be overly dramatic and there always needs to be someone to hate. I wonder, would the show loose viewers as the favourites or likeable characters drop out? The show is designed for the couch racer. As an insider to the industry, you would likely never see the illusion that they are painting.

As a couch racer myself, I do enjoy the show. I do flip to other chanels while the sillyness and emotion caries on. I enjoy the actual driving and mishaps. Owning the car that they are using certainly has a big influence in my watching it. The destruction is particularily enjoyable. I'll admit it.

I prefer the use of rookie in the show because it gives me the fantasy that I too could possibly live the dream. You know, the same reason people buy lottery tickets. I doublt I'll like any driver. Only because I'd rather take their seat.

As a automobile race fan, removed from the sport, I have come to understand that truely competetive racing doesn't garantee good viewing. I sometimes wonder if most any popular racing series is simply a mechanical version of WWF.

Not, it's not reality TV. It's rather highly staged, and that is the problem. how about allowing the racing action to stand on it's own, and quit the artifical actionon the side.
Asking people to step aside and let someone else continue in their car. Imagine that. I don't race cars. I race sailboats. But I understand the drive it takes to be good at any racing. And I'll step aside when they pry my cold dead fingers off the tiller.

Im surprised anyone here is actually watching it. I watched last season and was disappointed. I saw the first episode this season and never watched another one. Just very boring and I am a huge racing fan of all sorts. This show just sucks.

I do wish they would show more of the cars and less of the people, but it's better than most of the crap that's on SPEED.

Also, they should pick a more scenic place to race, like Road Atlanta. It would add more visual drama seeing the cars suddenly appear from around the corner or over a hill.

I watched the show for the first time yesterday. Ended up wasting a good part of the day watching the 4 episodes back to back that have aired this year. (Well, did some stuff around the house while they were on anyway, so it was more in the background).

My conclusion. It's just a reality show. Racing is the topic, but they are by no means out to put on a normal racing event.

That's a shame too. Having a GXP-Spec series on TV would be a lot of fun. This isn't it. They don't even really cover the race as much as show you some of the carnage and the intrigue between drivers, crew chiefs, etc.

with most of the above. I watch for pure entertainment and the joy of seeing our car out on the track with a lot of other sols.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and . For those of us who are not race fanatics, I enjoy the show. I don't watch those reality shows: biggest loser, bachelor, big brother....etc. But this deals with my sol and I have learned some good information from the show as well.
