MSN reports that there are 53 convertible models sold in the US in 2008. In their list of the top ten, Solstice/Sky came in second behind the Mini Cooper.

It looks like the rankings were based solely on MSRP.

You are precisely correct, Jeff. I didn't notice that!

I like the verbage on the Mercedes:

Just arrived, the seventh generation of the classic German roadster sports new bodywork, a refined interior and a four-engine lineup that spans the gap from a merely strong 382-horsepower V8 to a ridiculously strong 604-horsepower turbocharged V12. Sportiest is the mighty SL63 AMG, its 518-horsepower V8 hooked to a remarkable new 7-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission. The lavishly equipped two-seater jets from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, and the fold-away hardtop takes just 16 seconds. The time it will take to pay off the $132,000 sticker? Only your accountant knows for sure.

Interesting, however, that the only JAP car on the block is the Honda S2000.

Best comment so far about my Aggressive Sol, from a driver of a red S2000 in the small town I live near, "I thought I was going to have the coolest car for some time. Now, I know I am wrong!"

Well not only that. There are 53 convertibles and these are the top 10. For example you don't see a Miata in the top 10. However I do agree the top 10 are sorted by MSRP. I think it's great the Solstice and Sky made the top 10 as well and I think it's great where they are in the price range. I think the Kappas are an excellent value!

no it just always seems to beat the Solstice in like every comparo that I've seen. They say it's better balanced and feels lighter on its feet than the Solstice. It also starts at like what 18k for a base model? Dude not that i'm defending a Miata. It's a good car but looks wise and performance the Solstice has it hands down. Which is why i'm trying to get one...

I don't know how a Sebring [as ugly as it is now] beat out the Miata.

The Miata would have beaten the Solstice if they were just limiting the survey San Francisco.

.... Not that there is anything wrong with that.

What's with the remark about the Opel GT being the 'oldest' of the gm siblings? Only the name is older than the Solstice.

I have never read a good comentary from any car source, edmunds etc. all have bad reviews no matter were i go, seems the bash anything american boat is as full as ever. Even the few that are even close to a fair review they will always toss in enough bad to offset any the good they said. Its a real wonder that cars sell as well as they do. But we know why they do its because they are just so darn sexy. A day never goes by that a girl will say, "Can i borrow that car for the weekend, its so cool?" or some guy asking how fast is IT. That is the greatest appeal of a Solstice. its classic curves in a word of cookie cuter boxs.

It seems they actually gave a pretty good review for the Sol, unless we're reading two different articles. They praise everything about the styling and performance of the Sol, their only negative thing was lack of space... however at the end of the article they added but the visual appeal and good road manners of these beguiling twins trump any ergonomic compromises.

I have loved the looks of the Solstice since the day I saw it on The Apprentice. The styling of the car is really hot, and I love the way when you look at the front of the car, the grill is like a big smile. You can't help but have a "permagrin" when driving it. I've been on a couple of driving trips, and people always comment on the car's looks.
