Philadelphia Inquirer columnist has several mentions of Transformers 2 filming in and around Philadelphia starting in June. First mentions Bay's visits to a few universities... but later references a visit right in the heart of Center City.

Philly's burgeoning film industry might be in for another big-budget transformation. Director Michael Bay, scouting for the sequel to Transformers, was spotted yesterday on the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Girard College. Transformers 2, with Shia LaBeouf expected to return, is due in theaters in June 2009.
I have my fingers crossed that Jazz will SOMEHOW return, but I think that's highly unlikely. I read in an interview that Michael Bay actually did not want to use the Solstice. He felt it was too small to be a transformer. GM apparently didn't give him much of a choice in which cars to use. I'm guessing that's why he had him killed off? At least Jazz went out fighting like a bada$$.
Does GM or the director have ANY idea how much we love the fact that our car was a Transformer? Jazz needs to be reborn....in Aggressive! (lol - could not resist!)

Also... saw something about bethlehem PA having an open call for Asian actors (bethlehem steel plant will be used to as an Chinese location)
Would be awesome to have someone from the forum in the movie...
TRANSFORMERS 2 OPEN CALL
Heery Casting is having an OPEN CALL for background talent for the new Dreamworks feature film, “Transformers 2”, directed by Michael Bay.
Needed are union and Non-Union background men and women, ages 18-70, all ethnicities, for scenes set in Philadelphia PA, and Princeton NJ. Shooting will take place in June 2008.
The open call will be held on Saturday, May 31 at “BULLIES” bar at the SPECTRUM in South Philadelphia (at 3600 S. Broad St. Phila PA 19148) Enter parking from the Broad St. gate only- mention “Transformers casting” for free parking)
Enter “BULLIES” from the exterior entrance, on the South side of the Spectrum.
Casting professionals will be seeing:
SAG actors from 10AM- 11AM (please bring your union card for admission)
Non-union men and women from 11AM to 3PM
College age men and women are especially needed. No acting experience necessary; both SAG and non-union talent will be considered. All roles are paid positions. Please bring a snapshot.
SAG members who have worked on projects with us in the last 6 months do NOT need to attend the open call, BUT we encourage you to submit a new picture ASAP .
NON-UNION talent : we STRONGLY encourage you attend the open call; if you can't make it, we will announce submission instructions later.
