The following is an excerpt taken from the MX-5 details page. I know appearances is subjective but come on... how can they say it's better looking than the Solstice and still give it a much higher score than the MX-5. Me thinks (if you read the methodology) this rag tag piece of an article puts real journalism to shame. They rely on review of reviews fer Christs' sake. Notice: that the highest exterior ranking is the Solstice and still nothing above 9.0 - what gives?
Though the Pontiac Solstice recently trumped the MX-5 as the most affordable roadster convertible in its class, Car and Driver says that it's still "quicker, more agile, more refined, quieter, roomier, more comfortable, [and] better looking" than the Solstice.
I think even the miata people had to laugh at that..I have plenty of friends who own and swear by their miata and every one of them would laugh at something so rediculous as to say the miata is better looking
talk about ruining their credibility, they did it with those two words
Personal opinion on the appearance of a car has no right or wrong. Everyone is entitled to like one over the other. Whether or not it flies in the face of most people think or what is most commonly accepted doesn't matter.

NOT
When even Miata owners confess that the Solstice is better looking, it goes beyond opinion and becomes accepted fact.

Maybe in your opinion....but it's still a bunch o crock....

DISAGREE WITH YOU HERE Giz.
The actually correct term would be "concensus" not fact. Appearance is a matter of opinion, styling is a matter of opinion. The general concensus would be that the Solstice is better looking than the Miata, but it is not FACTUAL, that the Solstice is better looking than the Miata

Reads like a high school report pasted together from various sources by someone who knows little about cars. Case in point:

The GXP trim comes with a turbocharged engine.
If it weren't for the fact that the Solstice and Sky write ups are so misleading I would be ROFL.
I'm not saying I agree with any of the opinions stated in the reviews, but I'm not real clear on the point you are trying to make here. Are you disputing the fact that the GXP has a turbocharged engine? The line you quoted is a simple statement of fact, and is actually true. So what point exactly were you trying to make by quoting that particular line? I guess I just don't get it.

For ONCE you and I have something to agree on. I did not get Cheers' point either. In fact, I thought it was that Cheers did not really understand him/herself that the GXP has a turbocharged engine in the "trim" upgrade from the N/A Solstice. Local paper last weekend had a "Pontiac Solstice GXP, SUPERCHARGED" for sale, and of course, I had to see that one.

Not fact. Stevie has it, a consensus.
Still, that doesn't mean an individual cannot have a different appearance. There are a lot of people I have seen make comments on how they DISLIKE the Solstice's styling too. It is a car that is somewhat polarizing and although there is a majority consensus that it is a good looking car, there are people who do not like the styling too. (For instance, there is a whole Sky community who bought that car most likely because they thought it looks better than the Solstice).
I can accept someone who has a difference of opinion on it.
The thing is, in this case, since a respected publication put's something like that in print that fly's in the face of overall consensus, then people read into it as someone being biased. I suppose that is the possibility, but I really suspect it is just a Miata fan who wrote it and really does think it has better styling. Nobody really has to agree or accept it.
PS I may be a bit biased myself. I always have liked Miatas, although I am disappointed by the styling of the current version. IMO it took a step backwards. Also it is in no way as provocative as the Solstice or Sky, but it is selling in decent numbers too so it cannot be as offensive as some here would have us believe.
I had you and a few other forum members in my mind while I was phrasing my reply. I didn't want to sound like I wanted to start a fight. I just really don't understand what point Cheers was trying to make.

Never met any of those people myself. Some have told me they prefer the Sky's styling but none of them said they disliked the Solstice's styling.
