No, I don't care if it's the Autobahn or outerspace, what I said IS correct. Dog sized German deer, sure whatever, but an average US sized deer would NOT do that little bit of damage to that type of car, nor end up in the engine compartment. You'll note I was quite specific, wasn't I?

I am not so sure of that...for one thing it was mentioned this was on the Autobahn...the speeds are unlimited there. For the other thing, I would have to research the species of deer there. Here in AZ there is a prevalent species of a very small whitetail deer known as Coues Deer. There body mass is equal to or less than an average large to medium dog. I could certainly see a small deer entering the grill area at a high rate of speed certainly ending up as the pictures portray. And even if a small species of deer does not exist in the area of the incident..it could have been a fawn or juvenile. At this point I would say most likely genuine.
In fact indeed it was a small species of deer...it was a Roe Deer... very small....found this blog regarding same incident: DEER Hit on AUTOBAHN ???
I just did a little more research on this "incident". Seems this 'happened' back in 2007 and reportedly it was a 140-150 lb deer. I tried Snopes but found nothing.
Personally ... I find this hard to believe - not saying it *couldn't* happen - just hard to believe.

I don't think it's a photoshop, any of the above sized animals would go through that hole, if, on impact their nose was facing the car at grill height. That much impact would force the animal through, and up. Majority of the engine block would below bumper height, only one way to go, up. The last photo, you can see the animals skin curled around and coming out below the engine shroud.
If it's a fake, nice job.

some "corporate" research has indicated that the animal (deer OR fox)
obviously hit the air dam area as it fell and went under the car...and was basically sucked up and into the engine compartment from down under due to force and momentum.

nobody said it went straight in under the hood.
It just went in through the front grill, look at the pictures. It didn't get sucked back up by some underhood jet intake.

That is way worse than the swamp rabbit I hit in Rocky the Flying Squirrel, a Plymouth Laser. Big ENC jack rabbit on the way home from dining out at the county dum ran in front of me, hit the headlight caterwalled up, pooped on the hood and windscreen, came down and hit my Eat Mo Possum front tag, went under the car and out the back.
In the reaview, I could see this 20lb wabbit doing somersaults and still crapping.
The whole engine bay was manured and gut splatted. Took several power washes and details to clean it up. The body shop bill for the busted lamp/bunny was $495 for a unitized High Intensity Halogen Headlamp Assembly
It looks pretty real to me. Tow hook and all. I do know the German deer are much smaller than the ones I've hunted in New York. I've been to Germany many times and have seen their deer - they are quite small. A fawn would be like a medium size dog.

Like I said over on the Sky side - a driver pulled into my parking lot with what appeared to be minimal damage to his front end. When he opened the hood, the deer and its stinky, smoking entrails was mashed up in different sections of the engine compartment. It took awhile but I was abe to pull it all out with a long stick. Poor guy was a screaming wussy.

After spending numerous years in Germany I can tell you two things for sure:
1. The autobahn has speed limits, but many times they are ignored unless you are close to large cities or areas that are targeted for enforcement with cameras.
2. Deer are much smaller in Germany.
A couple of other things are that does not look like a Z4 and the force applied at the alleged speed can force a lot into a little space...I am sure an engineer can show you the formulas to prove it.
This car was from the Frankfurt area based on the plate.

Good call on the plate. I forgot they have region if not city codes on their plates.
I agree it's not a typical white tail deer...but for certain some sort of animal ended up under that hood and up in the engine.
BTW, Bimmer site says it's an E90 (3 series)
