The ABS in my 2000 Sunfire has failed. With winter on the way this makes me very happy.
I don't know how good the ABS is in the Solstice, but since it is not my daily driver I have not been forced to test it yet.
I never liked the feeling when the ABS on the Sunfire kicked in, the front end would lift up, the G force on me would lessen and the car would feel like it was floating forward.

2007 Solstice GXP - Yeller, Ebony Top, AC, NO spoiler, MSRP - ordered 06/09/15 - delivered 07/04/02 and it's pronounced zed, not zee! ;-)
While at my sons in Florida he was driving my Solstice and it was raining. We had to get on the brakes real hard and it never slid a bit.
I think the Solstice has a much more sophisticated ABS than my 2000 Sunfire (which I have fortunately not had to test).
I didn't say my car slid, I said it floated (I lost some braking ability so I could steer, but if there is nowhere to steer to that is not very helpful, I will just hit it with more force).

ABS certainly has nothing to do with emissions and a scanner has to be made to read ABS codes, most can't.

ABS is normally described as driving over railroad tracks or weird vibration, from the calibers pulsing to prevent wheel lockup. That "floating" you described sounds like you have brake fade from low fluid level.

OK, "floating over railway tracks", yes all the normal ABS shakes use to be there.
I've never experienced brake fade in this car since I don't regularly brake hard, only when someone forces me to.
Yes, the brake fluid level is fine.
