In light of the recent increase in intelligent (and sometimes not so intelligent) and passionate debate threads on topics and subjects that are considered "controversial", we have decided to dedicate a new forum specifically for sprited debate.

It's called "The Wild West" for short:
http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=54

Threads that grow a large and passionate debate have a tendency to clutter searches, can result in feelings being hurt, people being offended, and even escalation to name calling, disrespect (or misinterpreted insults), and other bannable offenses.

So, if you want to discuss a topic (like religion, or homosexuality, or abortion, or how great or glum GW Bush is ) you do it in there.

The posts shouldn't show up on normal searches for most of the membership groups.

The new section is not heavily moderated, so things like disagreements, heated debates, thread hijacking and such are bound to happen - but you know this going in, so don't complain about it.

While there is basically open topic discussion, the same basic ground rules apply - no name calling, no personal attacks, no spam. For the rest - if you go there, it's self-moderated and mostly self-policed.

Not everyone likes to see or participate in these discussions, and that is why we decided to create this section and give it a try. If, after July 15, 2006, we all decide this is NOT a good idea, then no harm, no foul, we can move back posts at that time and close it down. BUT, we are asking you to try it for several months first, and note complaints and such in a civil manner.

Thanks.

Also, the new section requires a password - this is mostly symbolic, a psychological seperation from normal off-topic light discussion. You have to take an active role to enter it - and at your own risk.

The password is

enteringatownrisk

I just moved a couple threads to the wild west, and wanted to bump this so those who participated and may not normally frequent the wild west can easily find the password to enter... (always enter at your own risk!)

recapping - TWWpassword is

enteringatownrisk

and is also found in the description of this section.
