Just thought that I miss the original owners who started all of this... So many new folks which is good...but maybe we could dedicated this thread to us "old timers" who have been around from the beginning.... Just maybe give a thought or two of how you have enjoyed your Solstice....
Please just post your thoughts about your ownership of this car...what it has meant to you..... okay That would include base or GXP...I have had both....and it's a love affair that won't falther.....

Amelia Clunkenquiet - she's cool and she made history.
I lurked for several months before I joined and made my first post on Jan 17, 2005. That was the day I put the deposit down on my 06 agressive Sol. Just like SolCandy, I traded up to a mean 07 GXP. A lot has happened in the last 3 1/2 years!
I don't know if I would be considered an old timer in comparison to many others who've been here alot longer but I joined this forum in April of 06. On the Sky forum I'm a First 2000 Sr. Member. I think I may have had more drama with my past three years of ownership then most, but I consider myself lucky having owned one of all three years of models including an NA and now 2 GXPs. Other then the pure joy of driving the Sol I am also most grateful for the friendships I have made, some being what I am sure will be lifelong.
I was also lucky enough to have been part of the original Dragon Crew (thanks Lee)
Bottom line I am still in love with the car. And don't think I'll own anything else for a very long time.

I am not too sure if I would be considered an old-timer but I know that I joined the Forum in February of 2006 and ended up getting my N/A Sly in December 2006.
I have met many people through this Forum but more so, it has been an invaluable source of information . It has also supplied me with the courage and daring to do work (mod) my car like I have no other.
I know I have managed to disagree with some folks here - some are gracious about differing opinions and some are not but after all, it is about THE CAR and our mutual love of it.
And love my car, I do!
Hope everyone is having a great top down day!

I am very attached to this car. It is just as much fun to own as it was on the day we got it.
CDB picked out this car, put down a deposit before the dealer knew what it was.
I had no idea how much I would love it. Love looking at the night sky, often take the long way home. It's a keeper.
I think the absolute best compliment for my car came from a boy about 2. His dad was pushing him in a stroller crossing the street in front of me while I waited at the light. The small boy could not take his eyes off my car and kept looking back.... he waved at me..... I just thought that was the greatest!!!!
This has happen to me many times since I have had my car. It's amazing to me that children that young take notice of a sharp looking car.......

June 04. There weren't a lot of us around then. Brentil, Excelsior, Solsticeman, Fortimir pop in my head. Things were certainly kinder/gentler back in the day. Any piece of info was drooled over. My claim to fame was getting the very first public picture of the cupholders, open and in view. I think I got a kid fired at the car show over it too. As Steve Martin says, "The times, they are a shonging.."
I was lurking around since April 2005, then joined the forum August 05. I had seen a few pictures of the car early that year, but when I saw one live at a drag race in May 05 it was love at first sight. I was never in the market for any sports car in my life till I saw this classic beauty that weekend. The following Monday I put a one thousand dollar deposit to get one. Back then the dealer had only had sixteen allocations for the year, and I was number eleven on the list. It took eight long months to get my car. I spent at least two hours a day on the forum hearing everyones complaints, including myself waiting to get are cars in are driveways. The most exciting day for me was when GM picked up my order. I paid MSRP for the car. The following year I got the GMS price on a new GXP and traded it in. It was really hard to let my first one go but I know now I made the right decision
I turned to my wife one evening in February of 2005 and said, "Both our kids will be in college next year. I'm going to buy a car." About a week later, I saw my first photo of the Solstice and I was smitten. I joined here in March 2005, read virtually every post that was made until the forum just got too big for me to keep up. I still spend _way_ too much time online just reading about the car that I've owned since February of 2006.

I'm still out here, just don't post as much. Still lovin my GXP. Getting ready to put about 650 miles on it later today. Driving from PA to Lewis, IN to visit my folks and Grandmother before spending the next week in Indianapolis. I still get out to a MASC meeting a couple of times a year and will probably run a fall foilage run again in conjunction with the Lehigh Valley ALS Walk. Lots of great folks on here and out there driving Solstices
We are planning to make the drive to Denver next year so I hope to see everyone out there. I hope that some of us in MASC/ MASSC drive out together and extend the trip to include some National Parks and scenic drives.

Started lurking in Feb. 2005, got all the info I needed by March of 2005, and got lucky on one of the 1K in April of 2005 and I joined. I am on my third Solstice (Wife says last) and think if this forum did not exist, I would have stopped after the first one. A lot of the research, buying tips I picked up on this forum I am using in acquiring a new Camaro.

I guess that makes me an old timer. A younger old timer. I was just looking up cars one afternoon because I was bored when I came across the concept of the solstice I was blown away. Right then I printed out the picture and told everyone I was buying this car. I started trying to find more information about it and ran across this site. Been on here ever since March 2004 and I ordered mine in 2005 and waited about 7 months to recieve it. Not as long as others have waited and the rest is history. I to wonder what happened to quite a few people on here.
