Suggestion: Forum Chat

I know Deep has tried starting a chat but it didn't work out that well because the thread with the link would have to be seen for people to find it / go there. So I was thinking why not have an official forum chat? I have seen other sites / forums that have there own chat where you click it and it sends you to a flash chat room or some other type. I just think it would be a good addition to have to an already awesome forum.

I used to bump the topic everyday but the most i got was like 5 people, but not at the same time so it just kinda died off.

Yeah thats why I was sort of hoping maybe the mods could ask the people who control the site to make a flash chat of some sort an option for us. They could even put ads at the top or whatever to continue there revenue stream lol.

My suggestion would be to find a reliable off forum chat place to set up a permanent chat, and link it in a thread, and we can stick the thread in the General Sol section or something.

I would be all for setting up a linked chat site to the forum. However, there is some upheaval at autoforums right now (owners of the site) and simply getting the latest version of Vbulletin and the less graphic intensive skin has been a real chore... so I don't see the addition of a chat link or option happening real soon.

Integrated forum chat IS a supported option in the latest software from vBulletin (which we do not have) With that basically every member can set up their own "friends" for multiple chatrooms. It is unlike private messaging or instant messaging as at least half of messages are visible to entire community (the inbox). It would take a software upgrade of at least 2 levels plus the site owners purchasing the option package. (the newest software also offers an integrated gallery option unlike the current tempermental plug-in)

I am guessing that would be quite expensive and it doesn't make much economic sense?

Especially for the few number of members that would actually use it. Would rather the owner's spent funds on other upgrades/changes.

I would be fine with having a 3rd party chat then having the thread stickied. I dunno which is better thought deep's chat where you don't have to register or the X7 chat where you have to register but it may have more options(not sure on that part since i haven't tried it yet).
