Dealerships received the GM buildout schedule today, Febraury 1st. It came out under the heading of "Fleet and Non-Retail Buildout". As russims first reported, it shows an order deadline of May 12th for the Solstice. While fleet order deadlines are usually before retail order deadlines, May 12th seams very reasonable for both. Therefore the last dealer order cycle allocation could start on May 11th. Keep in mind that dealerships should be receiving their estimated allocation numbers for the final build periods around February 6th.
In the case of the Solstice the order deadline is not quite as important as a dealership's allocation numbers. Many dealerships could have sufficient numbers of orders to carry them through buildout already. So those with orders in, touch base next week with your dealerships for a status update.
Also keep in mind that as buildout approaches, the constraint lists becomes more important to watch.
Russsims is also correct about price protection. If your sold retail order is not built as a 2006, it will not be price protected in you elect to switch to a 2007. The order will also not be changed over to a 2007. The dealership will have to place a new order.
A few things are different on the schedule dealerships received. One is that it shows end on 2006 production as Friday June 23rd. The schedule also suggests that after having the weekend off, 2007 non-GXP production will start up on Monday June 26th.
