Post Five: Information that may effect Production and Ordering.

Information that may effect Production and Ordering

Production

Ordering

Subject: 2008 Model Year Sold Order Processing effective September 13, 2007

GM is now processing unallocated sold orders for the 2008 Solstice allocation group. However, sold orders that include a constrained model, option package, or option(s) that is identified on the Weekly Constraint Report with 0% availability cannot be processed. Constrained model, option package or option(s) with low availability (20% or less) as identified on the Weekly Constraint Report will be processed on a will try basis and subject to an extended processing lead-time.

Dealers should manage their sold orders within the allocation process to avoid creating unreasonable build/delivery expectations among customers who place sold orders on high demand vehicles, or constrained model, option package, or option(s). GM will continue to verify sold orders with dealers, as appropriate, and monitor results. Any dealer discovered violating the process will be notified and could have their sold order privileges suspended.

The real important point here to keep in mind, is that is reduces to almost zero the opportunity to make a change. The order had better be placed correctly. If ordering a car, request a print out the day it is placed in the system and confirm the correct color/trim/options.

NEW Solstice Allocation Calculation... In an effort to better align Solstice supply with dealer demand, we are altering the allocation formula over the next two consensus cycles. In September we are going to a 12-month Solstice Sales formula and in October we are going to a 3-month Solstice ADS (Available Days Supply) formula - where it will stay until further notice. The two-step process gives dealers time to sell down their availability before the ADS formula kicks in. The formula matches up to how most of our models are allocated including Saturn Sky
