Both components of the 72 Hour Sale, the GM Purchase Bonus Cash Program and the 2008 GM GMAC Alternative APR Incentive (0.0% for 72 Months) are schduled to end with today's reported deliveries.

In fact, most every current Consumer Incentive is scheduled to end today.

We will all find out tomorrow morning what the new base incentives programs are and any other programs put in place or carried over/extended.

The 72 hour sale is the result of a confluence of powerful forces. You have - in the last several days - the end of the month, the end of the quarter, the end of the model year, an excess inventory of current MY vehicles, and anemic buyers. One could also throw in the 4th of July and summer sales as additional factors. However, I would not expect incentives to be this good again for a while yet. Perhaps there will be another big push at the end of September when we come up on the next combined EOM, EOQ, and end of summer? Just remember, the economy is still shaky and most folks are all doom & gloom, so GM will have to continue to use incentives to move units.

On the side, I would expect GM to start using financing a lot more in the next few months. Their cash position is weakening as they burn through their pile to reorient the product mix and move units while their stock price is getting mauled. The result is they're going to have to find a way to make the sales and keep decent margins while not chewing up more cash. Unless they book the 0% or other discounted financing in an odd way, this would give them a good way of making the sale today while paying the price in the future. Personally, I hate financing, but if the deals are good in September when I'll be in the hunt for an 09 wicked, then I may just take it.

GOODMORNING CAMPERS!

While we all slept, it appears that the web site incentive gnomes were busy updating things.

Looks like the 72 Hour Sale clock has been re-set.

(Glad I didn't take down all the banners/signs/posters before leaving last night )

0.0% for 72 months or $3,000 total cash rebates on 2008 Solstices again (at least in the Northeast).

Will post back after pushing through this morning's mail.
