so, it's getting very close for me to break down and go to dealership.

I'm thinking $1500 for my down payment for $29,000 GXP.

how much did you guys pay for your down payment?
and how much was your Solstice?

EDIT : $1500 is when I get the car, to order, I was thinking $1000. Making it totall of $2500 for final down payment.

Depends on what you mean by downpayment.
I put $500 down just to order it.
When car came in, I put down $14,000 and financed the rest.
My car was $25,900. It is now paid off. Paid off early. Saved on a lot on finance charges.

well, it was more of "Before you get financed"
^^
I guess I wasn't being clear sorry about that.
and I see that $1500 is waaaaay less than what you guys paid, already.

Wow, I put down $10,000 on my GXP, and still ended up borrowing a little over $22,000 with a monthly payment of $436.

List price was I think $31,509, but they took $618 off the list price, plus I got almost $1200 in rebates. So price of the car before tax, title and fees was just under $30,000.

I guess it depends on how much cash you have available, and what monthly payment is agreeable to you. For me, I like to keep my monthly payment below $400, so I am kind of stretching myself with the payment I signed up for. But I didn't want to wait for a car, so I ended up buying a fully loaded one off of the lot.

Okay, so are you just talking about what kind of deposit to put down when you place your order then?

Depends on the dealership, but most will accept a minimal deposit to secure your order.

Somewhere from a few hundred to at most a thousand dollars.

Are you ordering your car?

it was for total down-payment not just for ordering.
ordering, I was thinking $1000 the most, and another $1500 for down-payment when I get the car..
so that'll make $2500....

If it's the deposit for ordering the car, my dealer wanted 2k. From what I was told it was a thousand for most cars, but the GXP was more. For a down payment 5k.

I was 26 when I bought mine... it all depends on how much you can spend a month. I didn't want to go much over a couple hundred as it's my first car payment (other cars are a '72 karmann ghia and an 81 mercedes 300d... no car payments there . But it just allowed me the standard of living i am accustomed to. It all depends on how the balance works out.

For a reservation payment, I didn't have to so I can't be much help there.

Somerset isn't too far from where I am. when did you order yours? and how long did it take? (it'll gives me more time to save up some money for down-payment when I get the car)

I have an 06 Aggressive NA. I ordered it in Nov. of 05 and took delivery on April 25 06. The wait isn't as long now as it was when they were first coming out.

for simply placing an order....$500 should be plenty....in most cases they will hold the check until the car actually arrives at the dealership...then you can apply to the cost...and add more.......our dealership never cashed our check..held it.....we paid cash for the car....no car payment...25015 out the door.....but that was an 06 base

$1400 down on a $21,900. Unfortunatly I rolled about $1000 worth of negative equity from my Fusion into the car...but the price on the car was so low that I cou
