How many people on this site are actually going to try and get one of the first 1000?? 50-100 people MAX?? I really dont think they will sell all 1000 of them on friday let alone the first week.
Lets see, there are 2000 dealers signed up, which suggests to me that each one plans on having at least one person put in an order. We have testimonials from numerous people who have told them that their particular dealer has 3, 4, 5 deposits in already. They are not going to last long.
dont get me wrong, I want them to sell out fast, I really hope they do!! I want to see them on the roads!!! I just dont think they will be go that fast though. IMO
Anyone suspect dealers will be trying to place 5 orders, whether or not they have 5 yeal customers? I would think there would be a lot of incentive for a dealer to try and do this, since these cars are in addition to their normal allocation and are almost certain to sell at MSRP (or above) leaving them with a good potential for profit.
My dealer already has 4 people who have put deposits down for the first 1,000 behind me.
Does anyone know of a Pontiac Dealership that signed up for the program that doesn't have at least 1 person coming in to try to order? This early order program is no secret. Every one of those 2,800 dealers has promotional materials and banners up. All they need is for one single person to want to order it per dealership to make it sell out.

They are not taking deposits for the first 1000 yet. The deposits must be for the next batch. Orders for the first 1000 will only begin on Friday this week.
Also, keep in mind that points from GM Card holders cannot be used for the first 1000. I've got $3500 points accumilated. I wouldn't be interested in the first 1000 if it means that the car in effect costs me $3500 more to buy than if I waited just a coule of months more.
I can't imagine that any dealer would have shelled out the $295 dollars to enter the program if they did not have at least one strong potential EOP customer.
Maybe I'm wrong, but even big dealers would balk at "throwing" away money so they could have:
1. the chance at a program (lottery really)
2. A DVD
3. Promotional banner
Of course there are a few of us on the site who would pay $300 just to have the life-size banner . . . it would look great on the wall of my garage
And I am willing to send $300 to any dealer who can send me the banner . . plus shipping costs.

Many people are showing deposits just as a sign of committment.

They can't place the order without the customer apprentice code. Of course anyone from the dealship could get a code. The key is the weeding out that will occur after the 1000 are spoken for. Some will not qualify due to ties to dealer/corporate. Any bogus deals will disappear so even if you got # 1010 entered you could still end up with an EOP.

No, I do not work for GM or any subsidiary or supplier.
Let's see . . . . 2000 dealers . . . . 1000 cars . . . You do the math. If you really believe it is going to take more than minutes to order out all 1000 cars, then the orders are going on a 56K modem! Better be first in line at your dealership and that guy at the order monitor better type fast . . . or you are S/O/L/!
By the time most dealers finally figure out what they are susposed to do, and when, we should have ours secured.
15 mins....PAS22 you are right. The dealers that haven't been hounded by people like us aren't going to know what to do when some poor soul comes in on Friday @ 2pm wanting to order one of the 1st 1000.
I already have the logistics in place with my dealer for Friday. I'm going to drop by tomorrow one last time for a dress rehearsal before the big event!
I'm going to start another thread to talk about the details of a poll for the people who will be accepted for the first 1000 on Friday.
