I figured it would be best to ask you guys instead of dealerships, Looking at ordering an 09 or having a dealership locate a new 08. My timeframe is from now til April. So I have some time. But when does GM have the best sales incentives for the sol? when would be the best time to buy? I will also have the grad discount. I still cant make my mind up on color yet either im looking at either aggressive or brazen. Help me with color choice to please!!! Your input will be greatly appreciated!!!

If I were you I would send a Private Message to "Small Dealer" and ask him questions that you have. I have always found him very helpful, up front and willing to help all members.

If you are looking to locate, the Pontiac website makes it pretty easy for you to find what you want. I tried to go through a dealership, but could not seem to "find" exactly what I wanted - e.g. the other dealer would not trade with them. Also, I did have my local dealer check on the car that I ended up purchasing (I found it first, just gave them a shot at my business) - they wanted $1500 more than I paid for the car. Have to love the internet.

Best time to buy is when you are ready to drive the car. Similar to my answer in your other post.

There is no way to predict when the "best sales incentive" will occur.

That being said:

Probably the only two you can count on going forward, are a 2008 Model Year Close Out Sale (End-August/Begining September?) and a Year End Close Out for 2008/2009 models sometime in December. Depending on what the future holds, possibly a Spring Sales Event for 2009 sometime in the Spring of 2009.

No predictions on what, how much, or what cars.

I have decided after thinking about it for a long time. I have FINALLY decided to get the following:

2009 Solstice GXP vert
5 Speed Manual
Exterior Color: Wicked w/ Black Top
Interior: Ebony Leather with red stiching
Packages: Premium Package
Chromed Alluminum Wheels
Rear Spoiler
AC
Audio system: AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 playback and Bluetooth
Monsoon premium 7-speaker system

My Next Question: since I decided to go GXP I would like to wait and have the car by April. I want the car by April.... can I put my order and money down now to insure it will be delivered by April 2009? When I ordered my G5 it took exactly 6 weeks. Well my salesman told me if i would order 6 weeks prior to April it might not get there exactly in time because of low production is that true?

prob a dumb question but i thought i would ask

Thanks for your input

Still think under normal conditions, the 6-7 week estimate in your other thread will hold.

For example, orders that go in for this week's order allocation are for Target Production Week of August 25th. So three week to work through the system, one week for production, one week or so for shipping to start, then add the time to get to your part of the country.

The one variable that could change, is how production and order acceptance of the Roadsters may change once the Coupes start production in Q1 of 2009. That could in theory lengthen the lead time, although orders placed as Retail Sold orders may not be effected.

If this was to effect things, dealerships would find out in the early part of the year. Plenty enough time to adjust your order placement for the desired April arrival.

You should be able to stike a deal with your dealership of choice and complete a purchase agreement and give a deposit. They may not be able to place your order in the GM system, as the Solstice is eligible for Retail Sold Order Processing. This means that Retail Sold orders can be allocated daily, even if the dealership doesn't have an allocation spot in that weeks allocation cycle. The dealership will just have to hold it in a drawer, until the timing is right.

The draw back to that is that the dealership and therefore you will not know what the car may cost in April. There could be price increases during the model year. Price increases that you may not be price protected for, if you hold out for the April delivery.
