New Owner (June)

Got a new 2009 base Grey Solstice on 6/11/09. Man what a great car for the money. I have just over 2000 miles on it.

Now that I am retired, figured what the hell, I will treat myself.

The weather (rain, rain and then more rain) hear in Rochester, NY has been crap this year. So, 2000 miles is not too bad. I also own a 2006 Honda Sabre (1100) motorcycle. It has been hard to choose between the two. The new Solstice or the Sabre, man life can be hard > LOL

I have been reading this forum for at least 1 1/5 years and drooling over this car for a while (2-3 years). The forum is a great place for ideas.

Options included; 1) air conditioning, 2) cruise control, 3) fog lights & 4) carpeted floor mats. Exactly the way I wanted the car. Did not need all the gadgets. Just more things that can go wrong.

Did add; 1) mud flaps (Front & Back) & 2) clearbra (the whole package)

Minor Mods include; 1) painted sun visors (Ugly Label), 2) 4 jack pads & 3) covered the air bag light (Solstice Sticker)

Paid $19,799 after $3000 rebate and $2000 GM Points. They gave me $995 extra GM points to bring it up to $2000.

I was looking at used Solstices for a while, but with this deal, I could not go wrong.

This car is a keeper.

Is there any problem(s) with too much wax?

First ... Congrats and I know you are enjoying that ride ... Second it is not really wax any more. Mostly polymers but I would still suggest that once a year you clay bar the car. Lots of good information in the detailing section of the forum ... last but not least welcome to the forum!

Welcome fellow retiree! Somebody's gotta sit at home and hold the ground down! Right choice for the boy toy and don't worry about the permagrin...you just have to choose whether to have bugs in it or not!

Congrats on the new Solstice and congrats on the great deal you got! My bud is drooling over the exact car you have! Enjoy it as soon as you can get a chance and remember...if you drive fast enough the rain won't get in the cockpit!

Chasse, congrats on the car and retirement as well.

Since you've been reading the forum so long, you know what to expect....
except it's much better when you got one in the garage!

You might could be able to put the top down in the two days between when it stops raining and before the snow flies.

( Just kiddin'!) Have fun...........

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the forum. Lots of valuable information to be had here.
I sympathize with you on the weather, not too great on this side of the border either. It started raining at 1730 hours June 30, the exact time I picked up the keys to my new to me 2007 Solstice GXP with 2300km on the odo. Right now I'm getting depressed because my Solstice and Goldwing will be going to rest soon for the winter.
