For all of us who thought the $19,995 price point was part of the Solstice DNA and important to Pontiac, it is gone. Effective with production of today, December 14th, the new base MSRP including destination is $20490. A $495 price increase.

I think I recall a post or two from those with "deep throat" sources who said this was coming. Please stand up and take your bows now.

Here is a repeat of the appropriate information from the other price increase thread.

PRINT - CUT - AND - SAVE - FOR - DELIVERY - TIME

Price Increase Notification Message
Quote:
Pontiac will announce revised 2006 model year Suggested Retail prices effective with vehicles produced on or after December 14, 2005. The revised Suggested Retail prices will affect the Solstice. Dealer invoice amounts will increase accordingly. Dealer discounts remain unchanged.

All qualified bona fide sold retail orders entered in VOMS on or before December 13, 2005 and delivered to the original customer after that date will be price protected. These units will be invoiced at prices in effect at the date of production; however, the dealer open account will automatically be credited for the price increase once the unit has been delivered.

Wow, that's news!!!

I can't find the link to the features that were price hiked some time back, anyone know where they it is?

But, is now possible some one who gets one early next year could be paying like a $1k more than a person who got one in 2005 - that would include the msrp hike and the feature hiked I mentioned (but don't know much about)????

The feature hike was $100 on Chrome Wheels, $50 on Polished Wheels and $100 on the Premium Package. So the max one order could have is $200. Add that to the $495 base price increase. So $695 MSRP difference in your question, for the same cars.

Been to busy dealing with other stuff here I completely missed all hints of this happening. Damn you GM, damn you!!!

They've totally ruined the fun of saying the base price to people.
Them: "How much does that cost?!?!?!"
Me: "Base price is $19,995" (it rolls off the tounge well)

See how that compares to saying "Base price is $20,490." Just doesn't sound right.

Thanks SmallDealer. MAkes me kinda glad I didn't wait for the one I ordered, as the cost was going to go up on that one by $600 (relative to the one I bought) - it wouldn't have gotten into the system by Dec14th.

thanks for the info!

GM could have made the TOP optional for $495.

Yep, it;s like the $500 is a bonus for being smart enough to order one in 2005.

I wonder, wouldn't this somehow affect KBB and resale values down the road, either benefitting the early purchasers, or hurting the later purchasers - Dumb Question????

Yes, every F1k is now worth an additional $495. How's that for r.o.i.?

The good news is that I will no longer hear the "<$20,000 roadster hype"

The bad news is now the Sol base is now only $505 less than the MX-5 and they offer power windows, and locks (plus the wind screen) at their base price
