anyone in Jersey have this exhaust? would be nice to here it in person.

so its louder.... damn i though it would be the same. does the one without mufflers have a resonator? it didnt look like it. i will post up in the solo section as that will probably be the right spot.

I beleive no resonator... which is why it would be louder than the SRT

My bone stock srt-4 went 13.662, 13.664, and 13.665 it's very first trip to the drag strip.

I'm also looking to get me a GXP to play with for auto-X and love the looks of the solstice and the RWD but stock for stock a srt-4 is going to walk a solstice unless the 3 that I have driven where dogs.

What are these stock motors holding up to as far as whp goes? anyone in the 400whp range on the stock motor yet?

So let me ask this. In AS you are allowed to replace the catback, do a K and N drop in filter. What kinda power is a catback alone doing for these cars? Anything at all? On the neons the computer is always trying to comand a set amount of trq so without a means of hiding boost from the computer, or switching computers aka stage 1, 2, or 3 you didn't really gain much at all. The computer would just run less boost to make the same trq. So by replacing the catback am I just looking for the lightest one for the weight savings or the best flowing one becaue it will give me more power?

Whats the word on wheels? Staying in the stock dia., width, and off set whats the lightest wheel without spending 600 bucks a wheel?

I'm getting pretty pumped now. I went to the dealer yesterday and they had two GXP's with only a few options. One has A/C and the stereo, the other has A/C and the spoiler. I like the stereo over the spoiler. I don't think it adds much to the looks and if it makes any down force at all it can't be till you hit over 100mph. How much is the average Joe getting off sticker on these cars now? They don't seem to be selling very well here since the dealerships seem to always have the same few cars sitting around. I have a buddy who works at one Pontiac dealer and he said they dealer traded all their solstices off.

Thanks for the help.

But it sounds like it was stock... So stock for stock Solstice GXP > Neon SRT-4...

But two different types of cars...

Anyways congrats, enjoy your sol!

I have dyno tuned many many srt-4's and have never seen a 400whp dyno pull from a stage 3 car. I have seen very close but never the magic number of 400. Thats on a dyno jet sae. My dad's stage 3 ACR srt-4 made 385whp on HOM and that car has been 11.5@125mph. I agree the srt-4 motor is a good one. I have seen a few make high 400's whp and live a long time on the stock bottom end. One guy was 500whp but he was not on a dyno jet and his car trapped like it was a mid 400whp car. I hope the solstice motor is half as good and I will be happy.

Ehh maybe it was @ the crank then... but it was close... All I know is that 2.4T is a sick engine...

I don't know what Rhys Millen & Team Red Bull have done as far as performance mods to their drift Solstice GXP, but I do know that has something like 440hp...

hey das i can email you my dyno sheet lol i just got to find it. i was bigwheeled stage 3. the ecotec motor is great and cant wait to work on it in the future. also if you did you do a 13.6 on slick? thats a serious time on street tires.

really though i think the solstice it a better rounded out car then my old srt. i kind of got sick of driving in a staight line..... driving fast around turns is way better and thats how you make people **** their pants lol

Congrates on the GXP.
I'm hoping to get one sometime next Spring. I'm also going to modify mine hopefully down into the high 12s (1/4 mile) category. I love the looks of the GXP but its just not fast enough for me (and you seem to have similar feelings).

Your SRT-4 was definately faster (overall). Despite what some might think, the SRT-4 has more top end power than a GXP. Both cars run very similar 1/4 mile times, but the SRT-4 has higher trap speeds. It really starts to move as it gets going down the track. The GXP on the other hand starts to lose steam and slow down at higher speeds.
Both cars raced from an 60 mph punch, the SRT-4 should walk away from a GXP.

But that's about where the comparison should ends. Just take one look at your GXP and the SRT-4 should be a distant memory. The Sostice GXP is such a beautiful car and just blows the SRT-4 away in that category.
If looks could kill, the GXP is the definate winner.

So congrates on the GXP and get to modding. Hopefully with the continued success of the Solstice even more modification packages will become available.

The motor should be good to 400 hp... The guys that have been swapping superchargers for turbos on cobalts have been pushing 400 hp on all sotck motors with no problems... The weakest link would have to be the cast aluminuim pistons.

Yup thats me.

Stock turbo set up went 12.0@114mph (Stock turbo record for over a yr.)
Stock turbo + N20 went 11.3@124mph ( Still the current record)
Big turbo no Juice 11.0@128mph
Big turbo + N20 10.9@133mph

Wife's old SRT-4 went 11.4@124 and 11.7@122 with her at the wheel. ( I don't think a girl has been faster yet)

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be seeing what one of these solstice has to offer up. I have bought many many Chrysler Vehicles over the years but they just don't offer anything I'm interrested in right now so I'm jumping ship on them I guess. Unless you want a MiniSUV in the form of a caliber, or a $40,000 srt-8 anything, they have nothing. I have drove some SRT-8's and they are flatout just to big to be fun.

I've seen both SRT-4's and GXP's run 13.6's stock so don't say it doesn't happen. They are rated for right around 14.1, and both have seen mid-13's one hundred percent stock. My buddy has a tune on his and went 12.8 on his SRT-4 so don't say you have to throw a lot of money into them to go fast, it's not true. SRT-4's are a great bang for your buck if you're into straight line four cylinders. My opinion if you're going straight line though is get something bigger than a four cylinder. Four cylinders shouldn't be straight line cars, what's the point? That's one big reason I'm actually selling my car is because I want a straight line car, and the solstice just isn't it for me.

I think you miss took a discussion as a argument....
