Well i sold my SRT and was looking at another turbo car when i test drove the GXP. Only thing wrong with the Dodge was the ****ty service. Car was bone stock and they would refuse warrenty on everything . so i tried GM. First impression was that the GXP looks way better in person and GM had a hell of a lot of nice cars that they now sell. I was looking at the G8 but with gas prices i took a pass. The car handled great on the test drive and the dealership let me push the car a lot since they knew i was coming from the SRT. The SRT is way faster but hell my new GXP handled awesome and looks great. i am a big fan of the interior on how everything faces the driver. a few questions i have though.
1) It this car going to be reliable?
2) Any vendor make motor mount or something to make the engine feel more connected with the car? (car was very smooth, i am used to solid mm on my srt)
3) Any ecu flashes out yet? the car would be great if it made 280-300 to the wheels.
Only thing that i will have to get used to is the power. They told me the car makes 260hp but i dont think that could be it. maybe 200 to the wheels if that. Well ill try to post up some pics and i cant wait to pick up my car and drive it!!!!!!!!!
ps. Pontiac made me laugh with the cup holders lol 3 in a 2 seater.... and who is gonna have time to drink when they will be driving this bad boy
Welcome to the forum and cograts on your GXP. Which SRT. Neon? Charger? What year is your GXP? Stock GXP is about 220 to the wheels. I have an 07 and a Westers tune with a Solo Performance CAT, Magnaflow exhaust, Dejon surge spring and I'm at 280 RWHP.

Glad to have a new Permagrin member! Sorry to hear about the lousy service...try to get some "word-of-mouth" on your GM dealer...if you scan this forum, you will see it is possible to get some real lulu's, dealerwise, with GM too. I sense we have another mad-modder on line now...Welcome, and enjoy the ride.

Honestly I have a few friends with SRT-4s (with modifications, not stage kits though) and when my GXP was stock both cars where very close, came down to driver every time. But with my $20 of modifications and 1 hour of time I now pull on them in every gear. I don't even have any tunes yet, I'm sure with the tune the car would pull even harder as I hear from everyone. 100% stock about 6 months after owning the car I dynoed it and had 240 to the wheel. However the month that I bought it and had it on the dyno it only had 218. I did notice after the break in period that I saw more boost and that the timing seemed more aggressive, I guess the car just needs to know the driver before it opens up. I say enjoy it and if you are into modifying you will see more power gains from this 2.0 than you did with your 2.4. It will be fun and you'll get more looks.

"Well i sold my SRT and was looking at another turbo car when i test drove the GXP" Only turbo SRT I know of is the SRT-4. And I have seen bad drivers in the SRT-4s but let's look at factory and magazine tested times:
Year Make & Model (0-60) (1/4 Mile)
2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP 5.6 14.2 (C&D 'Oct '06)
2003 Dodge Neon SRT-4 5.6 14.1 (C&D 'Aug '03)
Looks pretty damn close to me. And ofcourse as we all know it comes down to driver for how well the results really do turn out.

You don't need engine mounts in a rear wheel drive car. Solid mounts help to cancel out front wheel hop in a transverse FWD.
I hope you have a 2007, there’s not much tuning for the 2008s yet. Be prepared to spend more on mods, the Srt4 mods are dang cheap, the low volume kappa cars’ mods are expensive.
The 260 HP is at the crank, not RWHP. Don’t freak out when you see different boost levels, with changes in density altitude you’ll see 15-21 PSI as the computer keeps a consistent 260 Ib-ft of torque. The bad thing is that all mods like exhaust/intake are temporary hp increases since the computer will just cut boost to bring the car back to 260.
As you know your SRT4 was underrated with power numbers at the wheels similar to what Dodge advertised as crank hp numbers. A stock GXP will dyno at about 220 rwhp, consistent with 260 hp at the crank.
My Solstice has been perfect. The 2006s were rushed to production and had some issues with crappy rear ends and problems with the convertible tops. All of the initial new model problems seem to all have been fixed for 2008.

yea i know of a chevy dealer that does work for my local pontiac dealerships and they are great for service so i will try to go to them. i am already making a list of things i might do to the car but i am gonna try to keep the modding down lol (i keep telling myself that)

Hmm well I've seen some stage 3 Neon SRT-4's pulling 400whp+... The 2.4L Turbo from Dodge is a good motor...
But it sounds like it was stock... So stock for stock Solstice GXP > Neon SRT-4...
But two different types of cars...
Anyways congrats, enjoy your sol!
I now have the car back to stock. you are correct Solstice GXP > Neon SRT-4 on handling, but remember i now own both cars and take my word for it in the 1/4 or on the street the srt will pull on the GXP hard stock for stock. i still love my GXP i mean its rear wheel drive

I seen bone stock SRT 4's run 16's
thats just peoples word of mouth. i ran a best of 13.8 bone stock and a worst of 15.5 missing 2 gears. (i have lots of timeslips for proof lol i love the track) yea i had 423hp to the front wheels on pump gas but never got to test it at the track (had a terrible experiance with a clutch manufacture). i did a 12.3 on stock stage 3 with 327hp (no HOM). was lots of fun but those cars make too much trq for fwd. also only cost me $3000 for 327hp and a little less then $5000 to make 423hp.

thanks for all the info. just asked about the mount as i like the feel of the motor while driving. plus i got a few friends that have them on their rwd car that are crazy fast. sounds like i will have a computer that fights back like the stock srts lol i will keep a look out for computer upgrades.
also i dont want to start a whos faster thread as both cars are great in different ways. and we can all agree the sol looks hot as hell. (i really want the coupe whenit comes out)
who are good vendors to buy from?
I know pwerks as i have bought things from them in the srt community and they were great.

Lol oh I'm taking your word for it, I bet its faster on the quarter still... stock vs stock
I actually almost got a Neon SRT-4 myself, test drove a bone stock one and it was insanely quick.... But the interior... I didn't like it all... So I opted to lease a "slower" Cobalt SS/SC
Well, now you have best of both! You'll find yourself liking the little seat RWD roadster... It's a blast to drive on the bends and twisties, and if you do autocross you'll see quite a difference!
I gotta hold out 10 more months myself and I'm going to try and get a Solstice Coupe GXP...

Looks like you and I are on similar paths... Coming from Chrysler's turbo 2.4 to a Sol GXP coupe...
Would love to compare notes with you. I'm pretty familiar with the differences between the SRT and the PTGT and hang out on SRTForums, and I've been doing scouting here for about 5 months now so I'd love to compare notes...
