PRICE PROTECTION ADDED 10/05/2007

There was a base price increase of $370 MSRP for the 2008 base Solstice and $450 for the 2008 Solstice GXP, starting with production of December 19th.


There was a base price increase of $60 MSRP for both 2008 Solstice models starting with production of November 30th.


There was a base price increase of $60 MSRP for both 2008 Solstice models starting with production of October 5th.

POWER SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTER, DEALERSHIP/RETAILER INSTALLED UPGRADE SEPERATED 12/20, This section deals with just the possible purchase of required parts by an owner. UPDATED 6/14/2007


Here is a notice that Saturn Retailers received September 20th about the Sky. Not sure if the "upgrade" information will apply to the Solstice but thought all should see.


Again, no more information then this. The interesting part will be to see how much is involved in "replacing the driver seat". Will it be just parts of the seat track or the whole seat frame?

Still have seen no information from Pontiac about an upgrade. Also have not noticed any Saturn messages addressing it. Have any of the Saturn Sky sites mentioned an upgrade? If so PM me the information and will add it here.

UPDATE

Been giving some more thought to what it would take for a 2007 Solstice owner to buy and to install the mid-year enhancement of the Driver's Seat Power Height Adjuster.

Site member gmarcucio is the only one to have tried it and posted about it. So their efforts have helped with this procedure. Additional information have been taken from Service Manuals, Parts Catalogs and various sources.

It is believed that all 2007 Solstices can be updated, as the wiring harnesses were changed in anticipation of the interim introduction of this feature.

One can check under their driver's seat to varify that the harness connections are available. gmarcucio reports, "The wiring for the height adjuster was already in my car built into the seatbelt wiring plug". See their post at: http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...532#post495532

Another check would be to confirm a 20 amp circuit braker in the #37 slot of the Underhood Electrical Center (UBEC). (While there, not a bad idea to check the tightness of your fuses based on other owner's posts.)

Then to finsih the factory look, an owner could replace the seat trim with the cut out for the switch and a different shapped storage pocket (based on recent posts in other threads). One could always make a cut out of their own and save money on this last part.

Remove the seat from the car. Remove the manual adjuster and seperate the lower cushion. Assemble the new trim, cushion and adjuster. The switch attaches to the bracket and then is bolted to the adjuster, based on the illustrations in the parts catalog. Attach the wire harnesses, and reinstall the seat into the car. This is a little cleaner install than gmarcucio's install. They had to get a donor wire harness and used cable ties to attach their old cushion to the new adjuster frame.

So it looks like about $800 in parts and maybe a little more than an hour.

Please verify the wire harness and circuit breaker before ordering parts. Also check any part numbers with your ordering dealership. Also look for threads from any other brave souls who will go first, or actually second.

Keep in mind that gmarcucio reports that with the adjuster, the seat also goes a little lower than the stock manual seat.

SAVING THE WINDOW STICKER
If you want to save the window sticker in the best shape, ask for a duplicate. This will come from GM in a big envelope with the adhesive protection still on it. IMPORTANTThis must be done before the dealership reports the car delivered to GM. After it is reported delivered, the system will not produce a replacement window sticker.

GM ACCESSORY CAR COVERSUPDATE 9/12/2007

The GM EPIC system still shows that the #19172066 will Back Order, but the locator shows dealerships are receiving them. So I think it will be ok to head over to your dealership and order the replacement covers.

UPDATE 8/24/2007

Still not quite available yet, but the part number for the new Solstice car cover has been released. It will be #19172066. 8/30, still shows as a part that will back order, but it now shows pricing. MSRP for the new cover is $295.

GM has released the information on how dealerships are to handle the exchange and possible cleaning of cars.


UPDATE 7/14/2007
The new covers are now expected to be available by the end of August. So exchanges will be able to done then.

PREVIOUS INFORMATION

Some may have purchased, through one source or another, a GM accessory car cover for their Kappa. Solstice part numbers were #17802589 & #19158355, and for the Sky #17802877 & #19158357.

Some users have reported that color transferred form the cover fabric to the car. There was a second hand account of that on the Solstice site. To limit this from happening, user should immediately remove the car cover. Keep the cover as there will be an exchange program. GM/Pontiac/Saturn will be contacting owners of the covers in the near future with this information. When replacement covers become available, owners will be recontacted to exchange covers. At that time there will also be an inspection of your car for any color transfer.

Just sit tight. Remove the cover. If you have a GM cover that you did not purchase from a dealership, you may just want to drop a note to your dealership's parts department. If you do not receive the first mailing, scheduled to go out around April 11th, drop a note to your dealership's parts department.

2008 Brochures arrived today, August 27, in the Northeast. Two pages longer than the 2007 version, must be the two page tease on the G8.

Same pictures on the same pages, just harder to see.

The luggage rack is not on the accessories page. And the Ebony/Sand picture looks like last years Steel/Sand picture.

Question has now came up about 2008 product brochures. No word as of yet on what form the 2008 brochures will take, individual model like 2006 or one giant everthing book like 2007. It was into August last year before dealerships were informed

2007 SERVICE MANUALS UPDATED: 4/20/07

Helm Inc is the source for GM (among others) service manuals. www.helminc.com is the site. WintR has posted previously that there could be a link to helm for the MyGMLink.com page.

Currently the manuals are not available in the more affordable paper format. No know expected date.

The 2006 manual didn't become available until August of 2006. Hopefully for those that want it, the 2007 wait will not be as long.

UPDATE 4/18
We received out 2-volume, 3,000+pages 3 7/8" thick 2007 Solstice service manual set today. (Along with a G6 3 volume 7 1/2" thick!! set.)

Helm Inc ( www.helminc.com ) is not showing retail availability as of yet, but you can sign up for email notification when it becomes available. Shouldn't be long once the dealership annual subscription shipments are completed, then it should be on sale to the public.

New Information

UPDATES
1) cincat12 is reporting that .."100% of the cars produced starting with VIN # 8359 will have power seat lifters.", based on a conversation with a GM employee in Michigan.

They say the height adjuster was phased in. So certain trims may get it sooner than others.

But everyone after #8359.

2) cincat12 has confirmed that their car does NOT have the seat adjuster. Which was expected with their VIN coming before #8359.

No word from Pontiac about confirmation or VINs.

I have seen nothing from Saturn either, or about possible upgrades. Keep it mind that the idea of an upgrade came from a Saturn message. Never been mentioned by Pontiac.

3) deluke is passing on a report of a Saturn Redline with the adjuster. VIN#8519, built date of 11/15/06 and with the Saturn Colbot Red/Ebony Leather trim.

4) Rusty reports that 8324 has the adjuster.


As of moving this to the closed post on December 20th, no word from Pontiac about the VIN breakpoints. Have not noticed any Saturn messages either.

Keep in mind that it was Saturn that said there maybe a dealership installed upgrade possibility, not Pontiac.




POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCHESCLOSED 10/21/06

2007 POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT
On September 6th, GM announced improvements to the Powertrain Limited Warranty, Roadside Assitance and Courtesy Transportation for all 2007 models. They have now been extended to 5 years /or/ 100,000 miles. Lots of information in this thread.

Helm Inc is now showing the 2006 Solstice service manual as available in paper. Thanks to WintR for catching this one.

AUTOBOOK PRICING CLOSED 7/29/06
GM Autobook, the salesperson desk top vehicle configuration tool, has been updated with both 2007 Base Solstice and 2007 Solstice GXP pricing and ordering information. This is effective with the July 25th revision, which came on line July 29th.

This delay in updating had kept many dealerships from "knowing" that pricies are out and from them pricing orders.

The configurator, "Build Your Own", tool at Pontiac.com is now updated. This allows better visuals of the car you are building, including adding of GM accessories.

Personal Audio Link provides full "read" functionality* of the iPod, such as sorting by category (genre, playlist, artist, album, song, podcast or audiobook) and shuffling songs/titles within a selected category. The iPod-PAL connection is concealed inside the glove compartment (or auxiliary glove compartment, depending on vehicle) so there are no messy extraneous wires. The iPod also charges while connected to the PAL with the vehicle on. For 2007 Solstices with the upgeaded radios US8-Single Disc/MP3 and US9-6-Disc/MP3.

*iPod settings and content cannot be changed using the PAL.




Accessories generally have a smaller markup then regular parts. So the savings that can be obtained from online sources could be wiped out by shipping and handling costs. Can be a good way to make some points with your local dealership's parts department by ordering from them. Give it some thought.
