It's supposed to snow tonight!
I haven't finished clearing out the garage
Guess I'll see what it looks like with a white tux...

I got it in the garage and wiped the 1" of snow off. That's what I get for waiting until the last minute to clear a space for the car.
Anyway, my Solstice is comfortably tucked in until the next nice day (after the salt is clear from the roads).

Just a quick update since I haven't posted here in a month.
My Solstice is comfortably settled in the garage today. The weather is not the best and I'd rather keep her clean and dry. We are halfway through January and Spring is just around the corner, so I am being patient.
I have driven close to 500 miles and even joined 4kids for a short cruise where we turned many heads. One Solstice draws stares and slows traffic, two stop traffic entirely. I can't wait until the weather turns. I've got several long trips planned.
Until then, I will drive my S2K. I need to sell it to reduce my debt load. Having it out on the road will increase visibility and desire among the younger set. Should sell fairly quickly.
Then I can turn all my attention to my beautiful ride.

Plans are under way for our first long cruise in the Solstice.
My wife and I will be attending a wedding near Atlanta in March. While in the area, we intend to drive the Tail Of The Dragon a few times. Hoping to find some locals that want to join us in the cruise.
The drive is close to 11 hours one way, so I will be able to review several different aspects of ownership of this beautiful car: travel comfort, highway handling, Dragon handling , packing space, etc.
I'm excited about the drive. Now I just need to get a few more miles on it to finish the break in and get my first oil change. Melt snow, melt!

I think I'm recovered from the trip enough to provide a little update.
First the stats:
Current Mileage - 2532
Trip Mileage - 1778
Trip MPG - 26.1
AVG Speed - 60 mph
Oil Life Change - 95% to 75%
Coolant temp remained near 190 degrees throughout the trip.
Driving this car on the interstate is a pleasure! I didn't feel tired or worn out after long periods of seat time. Now that I am used to the blind spots typical of a convertible, I have few problems with lane navigation.
I had two occurances where it was necessary to hit the brakes hard enough to engage the anti-lock function. Both times on the Washington, D.C. bypass. Both times they worked flawlessly.
I was able to drive "The Dragon" twice. First time I was in traffic and could not get going like I wanted. Second time, the rain had started and I didn't want to slide off the edge of a cliff.
There are a few things that I now feel confident should be changed on subsequent models.
added storage space in trunk (adding just 6" to the length of the car would really help here)
more leg room in passenger side (so you can move seat up to recline to nap on long journeys)
new cupholder locations (how about putting a molded holder in place of the left hand "oh crap" handle on the passenger side instead of the flimsy pop out)
Here's some pictures from the dragon:

I've been driving my Solstice a bit more now that the weather has changed. I've had the chance to really take the turns fast and hard and am really impressed with how stuck to the road this car is. Especially when compared to my S2K. The Honda is much more inclined to "drift" in the turns (which is fun too!).
I am in the process of selling the Honda and took (what will probably be) my last drive yesterday. I never did get the chance to really fly, but did reach 128 mph briefly before common sense made me slow down. RPM's were only around 5.5K with a redline of 9K, so I know there was more room to go.
Since I'm on the list for a GXP, I am working on selling my Solstice this summer. I have really loved this car for the time that I've had it and hope someone else will enjoy it as much as I have. My plan for the GXP is to change from Envious to Mysterious with ebony leather. I will also be looking for some new wheels that are all black. Similar to my current avatar, but without the chrome rim. I may do some other mods that will give me the best of what I enjoyed with the S2K.
I'm gettin' all excited all over again. Why do they have to release them in the Fall...

Congratulations, Slicer. Give us a report on the GXP after you've gotten it broken in.
I will if I can ever get off from work...
Too many shifts, not enough time off.
