How much would you offer for a new/used 2007 GXP w/ 500ish miles and 10/36 of the new car bumper-to-bumper remaining?
The dealer got it off a defunct Pontiac dealer and it has never been sold to a customer; first registered at the DMV by the second dealer in 02/09.
I am not sure why the warranty started back in 2007? I thought it was tied to DMV or sale or something. I called Pontiac Customer Service (hah!) and they said that the dealer sets the In Service Date which I means it could be a demo or something(??).
Thanks a ton and hopefully I will joining the ranks here soon!

Before, I respond, all that I ask is that you tell us what you end up doing. So many people come to this forum and post topics like this. They then disappear and never end up coming back to tell us what happened. Its like reading a good book and have somone tear out and burn the last chapter....
If you check the classifieds here on this forum, you will find a 2008 GXP with 750 miles on it that the owner was willing to let it go for $19000 which is all the dealership was offering him on a trade in.
Your find is a 2007 that is apparently untitled. I would say that if you can score it for under $20,000 you are on the right track.

I ended up buying it but I am not sure if I should post the details (deflation is a bitch).
I love the car so far (added 500 miles driving from LA back to SF). I stopped by my local Pontiac dealer and they installed a missing wheel nut. I went ahead and ordered the GMPP Stage II kit which they are going to install for $880 (I think labor out here is much higher and I want it done right anyway).
Tomorrow morning I am taking it in with all the details on the little things that I have noticed so far:
- Broken cupholder
- Couple of rattles
- Passenger window doesn't close behind the convertible seam but instead on top of it (seems like water might get in)
- Front grille is out of place
- Front bumper needs adjustment to match hood (if possible)
After all these little things are done then I am going to work on appearence:
- Repaint front bumper (the car had racing stripes which they removed when they got it from the Pontiac dealer)
- Have a clearbra put on (I guess I will have it put on in stages since the bumper will need to oxidize before it can be put on if I remember correctly)
- Windows tinted
- Leather center console
- Stubby antenna
- I really wish Corsa made an exhaust for our cars....
Anywho, I guess we are an especially close-knit family of owners now that our brand is going bye-bye. Seems like a great forum and I look forward to learning more and modding more.

The warranty clock should start ticking when a car is first reported as a retail delivery or when it is placed in to service as a demo or company vehicle.
A dealership can run a VIS check to see the actual start dates and end dates of the warranty coverages. Or post or PM me with the last 8 of the VIN and I will check if you are still in need of clarification.
And welcome to the site and Solstice ownership.

Did you buy the one from the dealer with 500 miles on it?
Just curious as I see you make mention of a number of minor issues that need to be resolved. Looks like they all can be easily rectified.
Curious....Which cupholder is broken? The single passenger side on the console or dual in the center waterfall?
Another must have is the DDMWORKS BACKBONE. This will help cut down the rattles and creaking issues. It also stabilizes the center of the car making it more solid and gives the suspension a stable platform to work from, improving handling. Pick one up now as it is on sale.
Of all the things you mentioned the top not meeting the window right is the one that should concern you the most.
Again, thank you for your reply and for updating us with what you decided to do.

I bought it from the dealer I was alluding to in the initial post.
The warranty thing worked itself out. I got the 3/36 the 5/100 and an additional GMPP "Major Guard" 5/100 w/ a $200 deductible (I have no idea how much this is worth but it sealed the deal).
The passenger footwell cupholder is busted (have to pry it out).
Which version of the "backbone" should I get? Is race a lot better for the money?
Who would install it? Can I get the dealer to do it?
I would try doing it myself but I live in the bay, rent, and park in a carport
Couple other quick questions while everyone is still patient during my newbie period:
- DDMWorks mentions the BackBone working with the ProBeam; I have no idea what any of this does but should I get the ProBeam and install it as a combo package?
- It seems the exhaust would have to be removed to install the BackBone; Is there a good exhaust which adds a little meat w/o drone? Does the GMPP exhaust have less drone than MagnaFlow or FlowMaster? Again...too bad about Corsa.
If it is the cupholder on the passenger side of the console, that one is $107 from GM to replace. If the dealer is going to charge you for the replacement and you want a better solution to fit in the stock opening that requires no cutting to make it fit.... look at this one ASAP is selling from Santana Interiors (Rich Santana is in California by the way):
As far as the DDMWORKS BACKBONE... I ordered the upgraded version. In this case thicker is better. From what I have been told this is a do it yourself install if you have a set of RHINO RAMPS. Otherwise I am sure you could talk the dealership into doing it. Its not anything that alters overall safety, I would thing they would do something like this if you are willing to pay for it.
Congrats on the car. You are going to love it

1 - Make sure that the recall work was done on the trans diff seal.
2 - Keep an eye on your door sills if they have they have the polished "SOLSTICE" inserts... (History of the insert coming lose and warping)
3 - Be sure you and your passengers are carefull with the exterior door handles. Crank on them wrong or too hard and they will snap off. See the threads here on the forum on that very topic.
Enjoy your new car!!!

Not trying to poo-poo the cupholder Tim is referencing here, but if you would rather keep your $$$ and spend it on something else, GM will replace the cupholder you currently have for free, under warranty. I am having mine replaced right now. I used the money I saved to buy the DDMWorks race backbone and can't wait to buy the Probeam.
Midlife is right... GM should replace it under warranty. If they don't and want to charge you for it (which has happened to a few owners), I just wanted you to know there is another option.
