Nice fluff piece

When I first got my Solstice, the one real complaint I had with the top agreed with this statement:
Quote:
The other issue: You have to constantly slam everything to make sure it is closed, whether it is the two doors or the trunk lid. It just didn't give me much confidence.
Since I got mine in December - I'm not sure if it was temperature related, because now, lowering the top is a smooth as butter

As far as his quip about the center latch I can't imagine what his issue was

Yes. Very fluffy.

My only complaint is having to slam the boot 2, sometimes 3 times before I get it closed. but the top goes down like butter, I agree with that.

And what's this?

Quote:
Then you get out, raise the lid, and fold the top into the trunk. Then you have to pop two pins into appropriate holes on the rear deck.

Did he actually put the top down himself? Or am I doing something wrong??

And what does this mean?
Quote:
The top itself does nothing for aesthetics on the Sky either.

First... That sentence doesn't even make sense. It's worded poorly. But more importantly, WTF does it mean? Is he saying the sky looks bad with the top down? He must mean up. But that's ridiculous, isn't it? Top up, the Sky looks h-o-t hot.

My favorite part of this fluff:

Quote:
The Solstice looks more raw and muscular and is aimed at those who are looking for a true sports car experience.

But overall, a very positive article for the twin. Because it's true. Any complaints you have with the car go away once you get in.

I sent him a note about dropping the top and trunk space and the new adjustment for raising the seat. I felt that he way overstated the problem in all three cases and mentioned the forum as an info base if he wanted to get his facts more in line with reality. See below!

I think you did the Sky and the Solstice a disservice with your review. I think that one does sit low in the car (and the seats now will include an option where they can be raised, you could have mentioned this, it's no secret) but it's only a problem with short people, no one else has a problem. The description of stowing the top was grossly overstated. It takse 30 seconds to put it down once you've done it a few times. As for the trunk space, Walmart sells duffles that measure 28"x11"x12.5" and two of these next to each other fit comfortably in the trunk with the top down. So the "small toothbrush" remark is really BS. I also have put a plastic stick-on hook (3m product, about $3 bucks anywhere) behind the passenger seat and can hang three pairs of pants or jeans and a shirt or two with the seat two clicks forward. My interest is that I own a Solstice and love it and my info base re:feedback on seat position and top stowing is based on reports from a 6,000+ member internet discussion site base.(solsticeforum.com). So unfortunately, you've managed to misinform lots of folks and have called your credibility into question unnecessarily. No ill will intended, but, always room for improvement! By the way, I just saw my first Sky on the road, a black one, and it was the shiniest car I think I've ever seen!

I believe the "pins" he is referring to are the buttresses. As far a slaming, my doors are fine. As far as the trunk, the sales guy told me to close it by putting my hand on one of the humps which required a slam. In reading this forum, I was told the humps are a very weak point and can easily dent. Since I changed to placing my hand between the humps, the truck closes without s slam.

I know he was referring to the pins. but he was also talkiong about putting the top down. The pins only come into play when putting the top up...

Seems like this writer did some stretching the truth on some of his descriptions

jedjr, you can also push on the chrome rings on trunk deck to close too.

I usually use the chrome rings as a focal point. Kinda like the 57 on the side of a bottle of Ketchup.

He also failed to mention there is a trunk pop on the key fob. Apparently the only way to put the top up or down requires getting into the glove box...

just make sure you dont stick your finger in the silver hole and accidentally hit the trunk open button on the fob with your other hand.

I plead the fifth on how I know this.
