My favorite area is Estes Park. Nestled in the valley at the eastern entrance to Rocky Mountain NP. I've probably been there 15 times on vacation in my 61 years. Always fun and relaxing.
Living in the PNW, I like to hit Highway 101, and loop around the Olympic National Forest! Lots of moutainous roads, sharp turns, cliffs, and beautiful scenery and beeches to cap off the drive. Just plain gorgeous!

I love the PNW, and am looking forward to one day driving that stretch of 101 you mentioned...
My husband and I drove 101 North from L.A. to San Francisco a couple of years ago, and I loved Big Sur... (it still didn't compare to 550, in my eyes, though!) But, I can't wait to pick up where we left off, and head North from San Fran, up as far as it goes!
there's something about the Northwest........ man 0 man....
Pike's Peak highway. Until they recently paved the top end. What were they thinking? We happened to travel to Colorado wit htwo of the kids one summer and "happened" to be halfway up the course when the annual July 4 Race to the Clouds began. We "had' to park the car and watch the entire race. Neatest thing was the two all-electric cars that went by almost silently at over 85mph. There was a little bit of every type of motor vehicle on the course, including Indy cars and Freightliners.

Yeah, I'm a californian originally, lived there till I was 9, then moved up here. I'm 24 now, but man, I've just loved this area. It has a little of everything! Warm here by the Columbia, and Puget Sound is a unique body of water, I love riding on my friend's boat, or on a ferry to Victoria BC, or even between Seattle and Everett. The only thing I wish would happen is that the "Sophisticates" would stop buying the monster SUV's that they don't utilize even 5% of. It seems like everytime I pass through seattle, I'm almost run over by somebody talking on their cell and sipping on their starbucks coffee all the while working on their eyeliner (no joke). Thats hasn't stopped me from owning fun sporting little cars, and thats why I'm going to get me a solstice in about 2 yrs, or 1.5yrs. But once you get away from the metropolitan areas, Washington and Oregon are just Plain Beautiful.

Agree with the BRP as not only a great roadster friendly road with lots of twisties, but also beautiful from a scenic perspective.
The Pacific Coast Hwy for LA to the SFO area is a close 2nd - IMHO.

I made a 8 hour loop in the hill country west of Austin Texas a few years ago. It was about 50/50 dirt/tarmac but there were plenty of twisties and scenery that weren't on dirt roads. I plan on going back that way someday. Here's the thread with pics from the Nasioc forums:
Well life in NE arkansas doesnt always provide the best scenery, but some of the most fun roads i drive are 358/351 ( a 20 mile strip of hills and curves) and the highway from here to Mt. Home ( Up and down big hills on a 2 lane that switches to temporary 3 lane for passing, and the race is on.)
Do you have a beautiful country backwoods lane with a lot of curves you love to drive? Share it with us!
Where will you go?
There are some great rooutes around the upper Great Lakes. Unfortunately many of the best have been widdened and straightened. My favorite rides for the Solstice will be the same ones that I ride my V-Rod on. Twisty Town and County highways just south of Michigan border that are great for an afternoon or day run.

there are bunches of great roadster roads in WNC from the fairly sedate BRP to the downright devilish 276!.
You can also do the tail of dragon- but it's gotten waaaay to popular.
In Oregon, if you are on I-5 you can get off at Canyonville and take a back road through the mountains to Medford. or if you are going north you could just start at the other end.
