Thanks, AZ. On that 7/04 thread, S'man listed three roads I'll be able to drive while I'm out west.

Dragon tail is hard to beat.

Most fun I ever had in a moving car.

In central N.C. an offbeat road is NC-1306 in Montgomery County.
Almost zero traffic, two lane tar and gravel, grass growing up through the pavement, really nice curves...a few of them are Dragon quality.
Problem is that the really nice part is too short. However the local nature offsets this for me.

flint hill montgomery - Google Maps

The scenery in this area of the Uwharrie mountains is pretty good as well.
Several of the other area roads are worth a try also.

Bottom line: I wouldn't drive hundreds of miles for this but if you are local it just might be worth a ride.

Rickey.
