1983...then West Germany, before the wall came down....Army Captain serving with a Field Artillery Brigade in Giessen West, Germany....was the community duty officer that night......one of the terrorist groups of the time...red brigade or some such..dont remember....had been targeting US Facilities......had warned of a pending attack.....werent out to kill, just harass and destroy property......Germany and US Military Police were patrolling.......someone slipped into the housing area (open post no gates or fencing) and got to one of the parking lots...slid an acetylene bottle packed with explosives under one of the cars in the lot....the Opel was parked across the lot...probably 25 feet from the car they rolled the bottle under.....blew it with a timer just as a young MP rounded the corner of the housing area......about 4AM....destroyed all 15 cars in the lot..and shattered probably a 100 windows in the housing complex.....
by 6Pm that night..all the windows were boarded up...all the glass removed from the grounds and the parking stripes repainted in the parking lot..thanks to Germany and US authorities.......you never would have known something happened......US Govt reimbursed me for the cost of the car..got more than I paid for it... and saved me from selling it..as I was transitioning back to the states to a new assignment in two months.........so thats the story

WOW, I haven't checked this topic since I posted it and was totally impressed with the listings. See... this is what I like to know about everyone and wanted everyone to share the history a little. For a guy who is almost 31 yrs old I have owned a lot of cars in my time. Compared to certain members who had more, it goes to show you that some have had the car experience ventured out. I would take advice from any person who had more than one car in their life. It's easy to help people to relate to the ride or even drive when you have owned or driven different types of cars. Either way it goes, I am glad to see people who have a history with vehicles. Cheers to all!

I think that's it! The worst junk was the 1977 Monte Carlo bought new in 1977. Nothing but problems.
The Rambler started on fire, I wish it had been the Monte Carlo instead.
