06 Solstice Model Overall Quality Benchmark Poll

If I am correct, production of the Solstice 06 model is now finished. I thought it would be worthwhile to do a final quality benchmark poll of the 06 Solstice for comparison purposes to the new 07 Solstice. It uses the same questions that were used before. I know that you folks are probably sick and tired of these things, but please take the time to share your experiences. Let's all hope that the shortcomings mentioned in previous polls are addressed by Pontiac. If you have had issues please indicate how many service visits you have made to get the issue(s) resolved.
Staff; feel free to lock up my other quality poll. Thanks

Cool the first to cast my results - although I have not had the work done on the electronics yet, I like several others have non-operating fog lights.

You might want to add that as a line item to vote since I know I was one of many who took delivery with fog lights that didnt work.

Mileage - 1600

ripple; I can't change the poll, but if as you say there are several others with this same problem they can say so in the body of their post.
Everyone; Please post the mileage you have on your car when you responded to this poll. Thanks

I voted for 'no issues'. The only problems I have are minor and I'm not sure if it's worth fixing. I have heard the loud audio pop twice now since I got my Sol just over two months ago, and there's a small gap on the driver side headlight. Only noticeable if you really look for it. I could also hear squeaking noise in the trunk if the top is down. A forum member told me to put a felt on one of the hinges on the top but I forgot where. I'll try to figure that out one of these days.

I took it to the closest Pontiac dealership on my neighborhood to complain about audio pop but they said they have never even heard of this problem, even after I showed them the bulletin. I've also read some postings here that even after the software upgrade was done to their radio, the pop was still there.

I have 1200 Miles on my Sol

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the car. Certain aspects including styling and handling are great bit the lack of power and the "leak" have made me wonder why GM didn't get it right the first time. Overall I give the car a 7.5 on a scale if 1-10.

solkool: For me this is the million dollar question. I don't want to turn this thread in to that discussion, but I believe it needs to be discussed as GM's future is at stake. Why don't you pose it as a seperate thread. No doubt there will be a varied response. Now that this car is moving into it's second year of production we need to talk about our "expectations".
Edit
sokool: Nevermind, I started a different thread
.

Well you two are asking what I am asking as well.
I have 13000 miles on my PHATSOL, and I absolutely love the styling. I have had some minor nagging issues like that of the horn and airbag electronic failure requiring 2 weeks to get the spare parts in and two weeks for me without PHATSOL. I have had 4 different failures of the cheaply built cupholders and my leather sags like well, you know what sags. I have had the top get pinched when in the trunk retracted, and this has occured because those little gromets that hold the top in place are held on via cheaply adhesed double faced tape which has fallen off repeatedly. I have had several dealership visits and consultations regarding these gromets. All in all, I love the Solstice. But, taken as a whole in the first year of ownership (for me now 8 months of predominantly all highway driving) well, I feel this car may have major issues when it is out of warranty and this will affect how GM gets viewed down the road. Look, the cupholder issue is nothing really. But the top issue, the electronic glitches with my air bag not working and then the horn mechanism failing and needing new electronics at 8000 miles was a big big deal to me. Nagging issues like this during warranty is one thing. When the warranty is up, those things will be costly and pathetic in the view of the modern American buyer.

I just knew that we were going here. I really want this thread to serve as a quality benchmark for the entire 06 model year, so I will start a new thread for the "Why" question. I will put a link here as soon as I get the new thread posted.

Hip Hip Horray! I got to checked every box except for body panel alignment issues! Besides all the things I've gotten repaired under warrenty, there are un-repaired water leaks (I just don't know from where) and paint issues (obvious blemishes but that just makes it personalized). Add to the list of common glitches, "The rear defroster doesn't work." And there's a clunk in the tranny as well as the rear end.

But I still love my car and am glad I got it! Everything that was repaired hasn't broken a second time and I'm doubtful it will.
