I could also hear squeaking noise in the trunk if the top is down. A forum member told me to put a felt on one of the hinges on the top but I forgot where. I'll try to figure that out one of these days.
I took it to the closest Pontiac dealership on my neighborhood to complain about audio pop but they said they have never even heard of this problem, even after I showed them the bulletin. I've also read some postings here that even after the software upgrade was done to their radio, the pop was still there.
Vin # 2726. I checked no problems because I have none due to build issues. Originally it made a weird noise, clunk maybe? between 1st and 2nd gear, took it to dealer and they said nothing was wrong with it. Now about 5,000 kms later no sound.
However, I do have an issue with the inferior quality of the interior - specifically the doors. Twice I put a little dent in the beige part (2 tone) of drivers side, almost looks like a pin prick, must have been with my key in left hand and getting in. The material is soft and spongy. Also hard to keep clean. The second time I put 2 duck crossing/highway type signs (don't ask....) and went to place them on the passengers seat, but the edge put a couple long scratches on passenger door (grey pebbly, hard surface) and a little rip in the vinyl handle by the ER brake. I didn't force it in, it was almost like paper. Made me sick to see what I did. There is a local place called Dr. Vinyl that I was referred to fix it and hopefully will be repaired.
Re: performance, I changed oil when 10% was left and went with synthetic. Performed way better. Then added the magnaflow catback exhaust and it is more responsive and sounds throatier, less whimpy.
I love my Sol. I now have 14,500 km's - put 2,200 on last week going to Mt. Washington. It was awesome on the twisty roads, handling is superb. Sol makes any drive fun. I got a personalized plate - KICKING, it means a few things to me, including that this car is KICKING!
I own vin #5 and have just passed the 12K mile mark. The only issue I have had was the convertible top release handle, which became loose and clattered loudly. The problem was handled quickly by the dealer at my 12K mile service visit.
I voted no Issues, as mine is minor, but I'd like it fixed correctly. I wondered if anyone else had any problems with a bracket disconecting on the top. I had it fixed once at the dealership, but it has come undone again. It doesn't interfear with the top going up or down really, you just need to make certain it doesn't get caught in the way. It is a small bracket that fits into a ball n socket on one end & screws in the other end. It's like the screw end isn't long enough & strips out.....Otherwise, 4800 miles & stil Lovin It!
just picked mine up from service -
pinion seal leak - they are going to replace the differential - it's on back order.
popping noise on radio - they updated the software
two recalls on transmission - possible water leak thru the filler tube - not sure why it was recalled twice on the same issue.
1100 miles in 4 months.
it's my wife's car we both enjoy it, but we're glad it's not a daily driver. probably won't keep it once the warranty is up.
our neice picked up a miata a month b4 we picked up the solstice and it is her only car with 5000 miles on it - 0 problems.
Got my Aggressive on June 1 and it's now Sept 1. Over 4600 miles and I chose no problems. It's an everyday driver.
I, like many other people on the poll, wish that some areas were a little better: I have picked the leather, scratched the dash, touched the edge of the door to a concrete wall and slightly chipped the paint, and chipped the paint on the hood when we mistakenly closed the hood with the door opened. If the dash and leather were "better quality" perhaps these instances wouldn't have happened. Also, seems like most doors have moldings but I guess it would take away from the look. I am OBSESSIVE with this car and still have managed to have these mishaps. I still consider myself 100% happy with the car...but it would be nice if there were improvements in some of these areas people are discussing.

16,000+ miles and no issues. I love this car and in fact, I'm still on this forum more than a year later which is a testament for my continued excitement for this car and the products coming out to personalize our Sols.
Someone used the word expectations in an earlier response and for me, this car has surpassed my every expectation. I personally wanted a hot car, that I could do some modifications to to improve performance, and I did. The car runs better than the day I brought it home.
I've really enjoyed the excitement each of you expressed about your cars, seeing your pics, and hearing your compliment stories. They've validated my own pleasures with the car and that I made a good decision to buy a Solstice vs other roadsters out there. I definitely don't think that I would be as much into this car had I bought a Z4, Boxster, 350Z...there a dime a dozen here in N. Virginia. Having something that is still scarce is pretty cool.
Vin #943 finally got the pinion seal leak. It is the only problem that I have ever had with the car.
Had it replaced last week, just under 2200 miles for me. I do recognize that the interior quality could be better, but it is not impossible to keep like new.
As someone who is truly obsessive about their car, I can attest that it is possible to keep it in perfect condition as long as you don't do things like put sharp metal signs in the passenger seat!
My car is 1 year old this week, and is factory perfect in every way. (Well, except for the small ding in the back where I was rear ended, but there was very little I could do about that one... )
1. It's really not meaningful if you don't standardize for mileage. Someone with 1500 miles on the car could vote "no problems" and walk out tomorrow and find a puddle under the rear end.
2. There's no "other" category. I haven't had any of the problems listed (yet) but I can point to some very specific quality problems I've found, like the dented exhaust pipe and the missing screw on the heat shield and the foam rubber cubes coming unglued and the wear marks on the top caused by the "feet" on the trunk lid that hold the top down and the foam rubber pads on these feet which had to be reglued and which are now wearing out.... You can argue about whether the car should have more power or the transmission should be quieter--these are just "is that all you get for your money" issues--but missing and damaged parts and parts that consistently fall off are real quality issues. So I can't truthfully choose ANY of the available statements!
Has anyone else out there had problems with their cruise control not working? Ours has been in the shop once already, not working again the next day. Intermittent use, one day works, next no cruise engagement.
Nearly one year old [Oct. 22] - 6000+ miles. Pinion seal at 3000 miles. No other complaints. Added ECM tune, CAI, Magnaflow duals and am generally pleased with the performance. Sure, I'd like 300+ H.P., but at this price I'm satisfied for the time being. Absolutely LOVE the looks [both the styling and the attention it gets]. What really makes my day, though, is the exclusivity; in eleven months, other than planned meets, I've encountered only two other solstices on the road.
