I would very much like to see the passenger cup holder deeper, and a lock on the useless console ones if not removed. If you removed the console cup holder you could make a bigger storage compartment maybe with a cup holder in the flip down door.

I don't have any issues with what we have now. Having assisted my mom in finding the built in cupholders in her new Lucerne (Buick), I can say that hands down, ours are superior IMHO. And... I'm also a law-breaking vigilante, there's always something to drink in my car when I'm on the road, I've never lost a drink, out of the cupholders, any of them. Can't use the wedge with a normal sized passenger-mine gets yanked out and tossed in the trunk or behind the seat.
I searched and searched and finally found the perfect cup for my diet cokes. Walmart groceries have 16 oz. foam cups that fit the passenger cupholder perfectly.
waterfall cup holders are useless. passenger side needs to be deeper, but is useable. we actually need something mounted higher, like in the face of the dash, for the driver. and it should be nice and deep, to withstand sudden cornering.

I shoose 2 options, remove the waterfall cup holder and fix the passenger side one. That would be the best of both worlds. I only drink water in my car to avoid any spill accidents. The passenger cup holder is in a good spot, but the design is terrible. The size is way off and I have not found a good cup or bottle that fits securely. Everything seems wobbly and loose. I really enjoy Fiji water and this bottle (square) does not fit at all. If the cup holder has to slide out I think a net of some sort supported from a frame would be a better and more secure option than the design of the cup holder now.
The waterfall cupholders are in a terrible spot. My elbow hits them all the time causing htem to opan, and it is difficult to get to them while driving. These seem a bit more secure than the passenger one.
My Jeep has molded cupholders in the center console area and i use them to hold everything. Loose change, reciepts, radio remote control, various small pieces when I take the doors and top off etc. People use the holders for more than just drinks. A deep design of molded plastic or a more ergonomic design would be much better.

I bought a mini-van/suv console mount cup holder/storage bin at walmart and cut the storage bin half off of it. The two cup holder part of it sits very securely on the floor in front of the seat. I only need it when I have a passenger, as I find that the passenger-side cup holder has worked just fine for everything I have chosen to put in it.

How about if I ask that everyone who is posting to please remain on topic with what if anything you would like to see changed about the cup holders. If you have editorial comment then you are more then free to start your own thread. If folks can't do that then I may insist that the moderators do a bit of housekeeping.
Thanks in advance for your consideration!
Now back on topic anyone else find that the current depth of the passenger side cup holder can lead to what ever is in it to to be on the passenger seat floor while navigating the twisty roads for which a Solstice was made to own?
eliminate the current design of the passenger cup holder or beefen it up considerably since it can't take anything real heavy. I like the design of the waterfall cupholders but placement is all wrong. The waterfall design (in metal or thicker plastic should come out of the front dash. I would even settle for moulded cup holders either built into the dash or on either side of the shifter. Sized to fit the average travel mug, can or bottle of pop.

Since my better half doesn't drive stick ... tis better to get an automatic GXP than no GXP at all.
Id be fine with an all cupholder removal. I dont allow eating or drinking in Victoria. Every now and then my elbow bumps the waterfall cup holder out. That ticks me off. So I guess we at least need that one gone.
Leave 'em. Cup holders don't belong in a sports car to begin with, so to criticize them because they're not perfect is kind of dumb if you ask me. IMO, you're supposed to be concentrating on driving not drinking your big gulp.
Is there any reason GM can't take a lesson from Honda and put the cup holders in a more ergonomically acceptable place?
I had an S2000 and loved the ease with which I could sample my travel beverage of choice. I miss that in the Solstice.

Oh and I think someone could make a fortune with one that hangs on the front seat pouch and goes to the floor that keeps your drink between your legs ... are you listening aftermarket guys?
the Kapparoo Pouch will hold a bottle of water with no problems

Do they make caffeine patches? That way you could feed your addiction and not have to use a cupholder at all. And if there was a pull out peepee receptacle under the dash, you wouldn't even have to stop for that either. Seriously, fix the passenger cup holder. It is flimsy, way too loose, and anything taller than a can will flop out right on the floor.
