Update: After my third vent tube leak, they installed a filter into the modified differential hose. The past numbers are 5651682 (filter) and 22518665 (clamp). Its seems ok so far. Going in Monday to get the pinion deal recall done.

I was just wondering how long GM will keep replacing the bad differential for us. Will they refuse to replace them on the same car over and over again. In a couple of years I don't think I would be very happy if I had to pay for a new differential some day. This and getting stranded will cause me to totaly flip out. Will GM pay for hauling my car to a dealership if it looses power in the middle of nowhere?
I do understand that problems will occure on new cars, It is the same as everything else, takes time to work out all the kinks.
I guess my biggest worry is in a few years am I going to have to pay for these problems out of my pocket.
New update: The car was in for its fourth vent tube leak and they decided to replace the entire differential. Will have it back next week...and it now takes me out of the required cars for the recall work.

My 06 Solstice w/Manual Trans has a problem not shown on your list: Excessive Pinion and Ring Gear howl noise only on the steady pull side, not on decel or coast side. The noise is loudest at a steady throttle range of 35-45 mph which generally means 3rd or 4th gear, but I can also duplicate the noise in the other gear ranges when the engine is under a steady throttle. Since I have had no fluid leaks from the rear diff, I am choosing to take a wait and see approach for now to see if it get worse with more problems than just this excessive howl noise. At some point in the near future I will ask the dealer to fix this noise problem as it is both annoying and embarassing to hear this ugly noise while driving an otherwise beautiful looking and running car. I have 5900 miles on the car and it was put in service on 12-2-05. I first noticed the gear howl noise at about 2000 miles, but the noise has gotten louder this year. /Bob W
Had a similar problem plus a seal leak. They fixed the leak and than I complained of the noise. They replaced the whole rear last week and the car runs great. There were metal filings in the rear. Good Luck

rear end was great untill 26000 miles. no leaks no noise no klanks and three days after recall letter came in the mail
the rear blew out at 65 mph. on my way to work. (got some grey hairs from that one)
limpt it to the dealer in 2nd gear and lots of noise. thankfully it was only 2 miles away
and they were open. (iowa hours u never know)
31000 and I took it in to the dealer for a leak from the rear, not sure where & didn't ask. They replaced the oil and 2 weeks later replaced the rear diff with a new one. No problems since.
I've recently had an issue with a grinding sound coming from the rear and turning would accentuate the sound. Upon bringing the car into the dealer they explained that the differential fluid broke down and GM had another fluid. They said they drained the original fluid and replaced it with the new additive available for differential to eliminate noise. This was yesterday and I do still hear a faint noise and am concerned that the damage has already been done with the grinding. It's too bad that at a minimum GM can't offer the 100,000 mile warranty to the '06 owners that they do to the '07 and '08 owners. I'm not sure what my next step should be and when I asked if there was any damage done to the differential I was told there was none.
