I live in NY and plan on driving it year round, but, if there is snow or ice on the road I have a 4 wheel drive wagon that I'll use.

For me the Solstice is a pleasure car only. No winters and she will be in heated storage.

Well, I just found out that I'm number 6 at my dealer, and they told me that we're getting 6 by the end of the production year (odd, yes, but I don't have the stomach to argue with that). So, if true, I'm getting mine next spring/summer, so I don't have to worry about that for a while! However, I do live in Alaska and we have winter 5 months out of the year. Up here, if you get a rwd without a differential, you're gonna ditch in the winter a lot more often than without it. Also, I'd need something to up the ride height a few inches to clear the few inches of fresh snow (I got a GMC Sierra high-centered once...). Hopefully coilovers will fix that. But, if my plan all goes according to, well...plan...then I should be out of here next summer and in a Pharm school down in Americaland. But if I was to stay up here, then yah, I'd have to drive it in winter anyway. I'd get a parking garage pass at the uni though.

edit: Oh, and my plan before the pharm school idea was to drive it in winter on the stock rims with studded tires (if nokian will make some low profile 18s) and then buy some uber nice 18s after the snow melted. I was thinking Momo X-1's in red, with red brake calipers that will be done on day 1 of ownership. To me, that's like having 6 big rubies in each wheel well!!

Diving nice days winter only... Summer is too hot and way too humid in Forida. Stopping at a light is like sitting in a sauna... unless the Sol has a blasting AC which I doubt. The leather will bake in the sun and literally burn legs upon entry. Been there done that with another convertible.

That is what my 4X4 truck is for. I will drive the solstice from time to time
in the winter is there is no snow a sunny day and not to much road salt
down from a previous snow storm.

Depending on how late they deliver the 1000 cars it could be a long time
till I drop the top.

Mine will be stored all winter. Will continue too drive my Volvo year round and use my wives SUV in bad weather. I plan on getting the SOL out only in good weather situations. I plan on storing and keeping the SOL in mint condition and possibly work on small upgrades when I can

Definitely drive the car year round..if its your only car...(and if your lucky enough to have an extra car...so much the better)

If there is a lot snow and you have one car.....buy some snow tires and an inexpensive set of rims....(it'll just extend the mileage of your high performance summer setup so the cost is a non event)

If and when I get my regular allocation Slostice I will drive it only in warm weather here in Nebraska. I winter in Florida and am considering trailering the "SOL" down to make it a year round driver.

I have a set of "Blizzak" winter tires and used them on a 300M. Nothing could stop that car with those tires. Something to think about for winter drivers.

Since this will be a Michigan car (THE black leather interior friendly State)...I will be driving it only on fair weather (top down) days!!

My everyday car will remain the 92 Civic, at 230k miles, it's just getting broken in!!

It isn't the snow that worries me, it is the salt that the road crews throw around whenever it snows.

So parking in November re-immerging in April after the salt has washed off the roads is the plan. V70 with Blizzaks on all four corners is my winter vehicle.

I have a big Dodge Ram 3500 Dually as a company car, so I do not need a car for work. I own a 91 Mazda Miata (Loaded) since new and I only have 100K or so on it, the car is never seen snow and the milage is only because I used to take my daughter to all kinds of baseball tournament all over the country. Now I hate to part with it, so I think I'll keep it for when my daughter starts driving (next year).

When it snows here in Jersey, we have nasty residual calcium chloride on our highways. I'll be using the other car during the winter season.
