Should GM make the Opel GT parts Solstice/Sky parts?
This is a multi-selection poll so vote for all the items you want.
Was made more aware of some items at Mecca II so I thought I'd bring this forward to all of you. As some of you may be aware GM decided to make the Opel GT the sportiest of all the Kappa variants. So lets vote and let GM know what we think should be done for us, the original Kappa owners. You can buy them online from various sources, but you're still buying Opel GT parts, and GM does not offer them to us as accessories.
Here's a quick list of the items that differ between an Opel GT and
Shorty Antenna
Performance brake pads
True Summer only tires
Shorty Antenna
This antenna is about 1/2 the size of the stock one.
GM PART # 25805645
GM LIST: $21.52
Online PRICE: $11.19
Performance brake pads
These are the Cobalt SS front and the SAAB 9-3 rear pads we've talked about several times before. Probably on par with HPS pads.
GM PART # 22705327 Front
GM LIST: $139.00
Online PRICE: $72.28
Bridgestone RE050A TRUE Summer only tires. If you look at the tread pattern on the RE050A on an Opel GT though you'll notice it doesn't look exactly like the tread on the RE050A we can buy here. They had some at the plant and they have fewer outside ridges in them then normal RE050A tires have and I bet their UTQG was different also. I thought I saw a AA A instead of the A A I expected to see. I'll let the industrious users figure that one out.

I think we should write a petition about how bad the tires are on this car and make them recall them. Seriously the tires IMO are dangerous. Worst rain tire I have driven on in years. Wears down fast, doesn't work in rain or snow, how is it a all season tire? The falken azenis perform better all around.
I voted but it doesn't mean much for me since I already have my car.
I drove from here to Ottawa and back last weekend in the rain on my factory summer only tires and didn't notice anything (GXP stock tires for which I've seen no complaints).
Seeing how many people have complained about the all season RSA (which I have no experience with) you should petition.
I have also seen complaints up here about "snow" tires where there is no standard to be met, just the tire makers classification.

I am all for options. But after 31000 miles and 20 months with all of the original stock components I would not consider any of them essential. I'd say a tire recall is pretty much completely out of the question.

How about the waterfal without the !@#$%^&*() cup holder? Hate it
Definitely would have gotten the brakes had they been offered. Went the smallest antenna I could find -- use AM and FM radio about 2-3% of the time if that, most IPOD with PAL mixed with XM.

Seriously, keep my thread on topic or I'm going to delete the pointless posts. This thread is to show GM about the items at hand, if you want to show something else start your own thread.

Please refrain from commenting on anything other that subjects listed in the poll - there is a VERY specific reason for doing this and it may prove VERY beneficial to ALL involved.
Thank You!

If GM gave me the option of the tire that's on the Opel GT I'd be more than happy to have it for the life of the car. It's actually in the grouping of tires I wanted to upgrade to anyways for Summer only FL driving.

The antenna option should be a no brainer... the shorter antenna should be stock. I understand they do a lot of testing on antennas of all sorts, but if it meets the requirements, make it as short as possible on this car.
Brake pads as a factory option. Most don't need them (may want, but don't need), but would be nice to have included in factory setup.
Tires... summer only tire options are great. I hate having to burn through my stock all season tires to put other better tires on the car. Give us the option to by-pass that first set of tires that we might not want.

The shorter antenna may not meet the testing requirements for the US. Europe is a lot smaller, with nowhere near the amount of open area that we have.

There is a good chance it would result in lower reception in some areas, which wouldn't be an issue if it were and accessory. As a factory item though they could add a signal booster too. I'm not sure but the Opel GT might have one.
