I'm amazed it went to $25,000. Everyone knows you don't get back what you put into customizing your ride.

Posted to forum: 2/10/14,
2007, 2.4, Manual, ZOK Club Sport, Cool (Silver), 6,800 Miles, $15,500/BO.

Seller posted to Craigslist: 1/17/14
2007 Pontiac Solstice - Z0K "Club Sport" / 6800 miles (Includes pics) Location: Beaver PA.

Currently offering a 2007 "Cool" (silver metallic) Pontiac Solstice base roadster for your consideration. This roadster is a bit different then most with the Z0K option. This option cost 2K that included 5-speed manual, antilock brakes, limited-slip "posi" differential, and FE3 suspension. The interesting part is, this option normally could not be bundled with other options, but this car has it all. Power windows, door locks, keyless remote, AC, sport pedals, leather seats, OnStar, rear window defrost, Multi-CD/MP3,steering wheel controls, trip / car computer. Was a dealer special order. 1 Owner purchased new, all documents and maintenance records. Sticker was just under 29K new. Always heated garage stored and part of a collection. Only 6800 miles in excellent shape and still smells new! Never tracked, never in the snow or rain.

Reason for selling is relocation from the area. Need to downsize. Heated storage pay for thru May 1, welcome to leave it until spring. Thought I would list it to see if anyone interested. Sorry pictures are not that great, will take better ones back in the area.

Just wondering what effect Mallet's bankruptcy will have on the future sale of these cars?

A Mallett in good shape is a decent buy at low-mid 20's, even with the LS2 (many of those also had stock 5-speeds, like the one listed above). One with a T56 and coilovers, etc., would be a great runner in the mid-20's if it was clean. Does not matter that Mallett is bankrupt. If he was up and running and lived nearby to service the car, that would help, but anyone competent can work on a V8 Sol.

It shouldn't affect future sales much, the Mallets that have gone up for sale on auction sites usually end up being sold in the mid-20s. I would imagine that's where they will continue to trade for the foreseeable future.

Nobody really knows . . . . . . or, at least, I don't know.

Be aware that Mallett went through bankruptcy several years ago, and the outfit that bought Mallett to bring them out of bankruptcy discovered after the ensuing time period that Mallett wasn't profitable, and decided to pull the plug and close the doors, and sell off all the assets.

One can only file for bankruptcy every seven years, if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Mallett may have gone through a state receivership instead of a bankruptcy before they moved from Ohio to NC. I'd have to do a bit of searching to remember correctly.

The only thing I see that sets Mallett apart from other V8 conversions is unique branding, individual Mallett serial number plaque, possible tuner name recognition, and numerous articles published about Mallett V8s (327 Turbo). But it lacks racing provenance. Do the positives outweigh the negatives to make it a legitimate collectible
