WTB: '09 Solstice GXP Coupe Manual

There's one around the corner from me @ the local stealership, asking price is 35k

Anybody out there know of other '09 GXP Manual Coupes @ other stealerships? Can't do private party, due to contingency on a trade for my current car ('07 GXP). Replies/PM's appreciated!

There were only 269 GXP manual cars built and most of them have been sold. If you really want one and it has to be from a delaer, try to make a deal for the one you found - it may be a very long time until you come across another one!

The extra few thou you have to pay now against years without a coupe - only you can assess those factors.

btw bill, i'll be up @ the BC driving centre in pitt meadows this weekend for the kumho super challenge (autox) that VCMC puts on every year. stop by if you're in the area; we'll be there competing from 9-3ish both days.

I have a lunch at a friend's place Saturday. He's in Coquitlam. I'll start working on the wife to go early and stop out at the airport first!

What are you running in case I get out there and want to look you up?

Wish I had a girlfriend with big fat hoosiers....

We'll try and get out there - a Solstice shouldn't be too hard to find. Maybe I'll take the coupe out for a drive - TO the course, not ON the course (I think the ZOK front bar is a bit too heavy for slalom anyway).

In the mean time nail down that coupe before it gets away (they can be pretty slippery!). What colour is the car you are looking at?

yeah, i think i'm the only solstice registered, so it definitely won't be hard to find us!
as for the coupe, i've got a call out to the fleet manager, but i seem to recall from past conversations that he doesn't work mondays. that said, the car's been sitting on the showroom floor, untouched w/ 8mi on the odo, for over a year and a half. i know this because it taunts me every time i pop by to pick up parts! which is often, of late (hubs, wheel studs, alignment cams/bolts, quarter panel, rad/fan shroud, door handle , sigh.....)
i'll keep ya posted on how it goes!

oh, forgot to mention, it's a black coupe i'm looking at. not my ideal colour (i LOVE the sly/grey of my current car). that said, i didn't really want white when i bought my type-r a few years back either, and i grew to love it. maybe black will grow on me too?
i'll keep my eye out for ya on saturday. might be stuck working the course though, if i'm not running when you get there. you know how it is!

Look for a gray coupe (mine), and I'll look for any Solstice!

They still have those cars in Auburn? Not surprised. They WERE asking 10k over cuz they got 8 or 10 of them in and they could. I went down the road to Tacoma and got mine for MSRP.

Also tried telling me how they couldn't sell a G8 for MSRP becasue then they "only make $700". Tell me how that's my problem.

Tried the "we've got 3 people looking at this car" thing on me with the 1st one they got in. Ya. OK. Not for 10k over whe I could walk across the street and get an Evo for less. Hell, I could redo the interior for less than 10k. I'm betting this is the same exact car (well, they got 2 very similar ones in last June, and this would be one of the 2)

Auburn dealer = also wanted to pocket all the rebate money cause they could. No reason that the customer should get any kind of break on the price even if it is the manufacture giving the deal. The dealership should make all the money and hey even if we are sucky dealer no reason that you shouldn't pay for the privilage of getting bent over..

This comes from the girl who found a dealer back in 2000 who ordered a PT with her name on the window sticker, optioned exactly as I wanted it for sticker price when that was un-heard of. Dealers were auctioning off cars to the higest bidder or charging that 10K sucker tax as I call it and telling me it was steal at that inflated price.

I may go look at the car from Auburn but just know this is a dealer to tread very carefully around and don't be surprised that you spend the day arguing over the cost. I understand that finding a manual coupe is not easy so this may be your best at finding one you can get to.

I wish you luck cause these guys gave me the heebee jeebee's.

Ya, I think that's a good plan a. Even if it costs you a grand or 2 more than Auburn, you're dealing with your local dealership and you never know what you'll enounter in Auburn. Better to deal with the devil you know (and can go yell at any time you need to) than the devil you don't.

Is the one you're looking at the black one in Portland? Looks like black either way... In fact, all 4 manual GXP coupes I see available on cars.com are black. I'll be in the area with my black coupe next week...
