2009 NASSM Questions

We are holding our (hopefully) last working session of the NASSM 09 organizing committee on Sunday. As we put together the agenda for the meeting, I thought it would be a good idea to poll the attendees and see if you have any last minute questions or actions for the Committee. If you do, please list them here.

I've talked to WhiteFang about making arrangements to visit the Cussler Museum in Arvada. So far only a couple of people have expressed an interest. I will be contacting the museum to see if they have some minimum number before they will open for us. It's close and it's cars I'll let WF know what the plan (if any) is.

LOL

Hijack away.

I am basically opening up to a brain storming session to gather any and all thoughts, suggestions, questions so we have a better chance of working them off before the meet.

We are looking at 100+ cars and 200 + people and we need to have a good, executable plan so everyone knows what is going on and has a good, safe time.

We are looking for all the help we can get.

I'll be happy to help where needed, when available and not on a run, but not having been to any of these, I haven't a clue where you would need me. But I'm open for recruitment!

Thanks guys for the offer of help.

I am sure that we will need all the help we can get. I will let the committee know that we have more volunteers and when we go through work assignments will let you know what is still open.

Someone needs to get an SMS text message mass poster program and cell numbers for everyone attending.
That way you can keep people updated as to the status of things or any "Amber Alerts" should it be necessary.

Another option would be to have a bull horn or P.A. system available for group activities outside so people can hear what's going on and who is in charge.

Heck get a Spirit stick for all I care - just so everyone knows who is in charge and commands everyone's attention at a given moment.

Believe it or not, in this day and age, I don't have text msging.. don't need it with my blackberry and no sense in paying extra for it. So maybe an email list of attendees for communication purposes? Or a designated channel on the radios reserved for announcements with preappointed times for the announcements to be made?

All of this becoming too complicated?

We have been considering setting up a wireless hub at the hotel. How many people will want to connect to get email or do maps etc? I pretty much take a laptop where ever I go. Can't be away from things for long.

I won't need one as long as my blackberry roaming capabilities are there with Verizon.

I would strongly suggest 2-way radios, many of us have them and use them on runs, and this is just one BIG run! You may want to suggest via email/ PM to bring these radios with you. I have 4 that I'll be bringing for our caravan.

If we all set the 2-ways to channel 6-21 when in colorado it will be like one big conference call!
