2010 NASSM (CANTON) Runs- MASTER
The purpose of this thread is to advise all interested parties - well in advance- as to what runs will be available...their complexities...and their limitations.
It will also be a request for volunteers who will assist in the mapping, downloading, training and leading.
**********
To start with.....
At present...there are 5 runs planned
#1...T2TR full and complete as is. Very little modification will be done here (maybe a revamped ending to get us back to Canton faster) This is a 5 hour skill demanding course for those that can handle serious twisties. Challenge Factor 8+
#2 SOS.....full and complete as is....Very little modification here also. (maybe a revamped ending to get us back to Canton faster) This is a 4 hour run that is a good warm up to tackling T2TR. Some serious twisties on portions but much tamer than T2TR. Challenge Factor 6
#3. 555-West. This is currently unmapped. The aim is to provide a somewhat shorter version of T2TR but including 555. It will be entirely west of I-77 and will initially try to follow SR83 down to the river and then back up 555 & 662 to the finish at N-town. approximate time 3- 3 1/2 hrs...will be revised once mapping is complete. Challenge factor 6+ (because of 555)
#4....The Short route...This has just been mapped. This will be a 2 hr run that will start north of N-town on SR751...go down to 662 then 209 to 658 and then via Freedom Rd. Gilmore Rd and River Hill Rd to Cty rd 21. It will cover some quite difficult scenarios but these twisties will have a duration of a mile or so...vs the multi-miles of 555. It is very scenic. Challenge factor will remain at 6.
#5....The Amish run..This is currently unmapped. This run will start closer to Canton and will be a CRUISE through Amish country with several shopping stops along the way. DA 1234 will be mapping this out over the summer.
Challenge Factor is 2 (4 if you count dodging Amish buggies)
*****************
At this point it is now requested...based on skill...preference...time avbl and any other restriction that all interested volunteers advise which of the 5 routes they would like to Road Captain and prepare for training . Sweeps will come much farther down the road...but RC training is our foremost issue.
For example....SLYGUY may volunteer for T2TR...Deerslayer for SOS and Nurse Deisel for the Short Run....for example.
Secondly....we plan to CAP each run to a limited number of players....
Therefore...when the time comes and you are able to register for a run you will select the one you prefer. First come- first served.
We want to give all attendees the ability to CRUISE or Run.
And because these runs will all be going off at approximately the same time over 2 days...we have to make sure there is little or no road conflict. Right now the first 2 runs (T2TR & SOS) are the only ones that have potential road overlap...and that may need to be fixed. any other overlaps will be totally co-incidental and may affect performers for only a short period of time.
********************
So...questions...post them here...volunteer ...post them here.
***************
First mapping of The Short run will be May 30 (see other thread for details)
Secondly....we plan to CAP each run to a limited number of players....
Therefore...when the time comes and you are able to register for a run you will select the one you prefer. First come- first served.
Am I interpreting your post correctly when I conclude that as an attendee in 2010 I would only be able to participate in _one_ of these runs?

good point Byron...thanks for the question.
Each run will have a quota...not yet determined...
and we will have a limited number of Road Captains.
Therefore we may only be able to offer 3 SOS runs each day...and 5 T2TR's
But- for example....you may want to try to SOS on Thursday..you register for same. You also decide you want to do T2TR on Friday...you register .
If you schedule multiple runs (for the extreme example) one Thursday morning...another Thursday afternoon and a third Friday we should be able to accomodate that.
But some of the runs are of a time duration that you might not be able to do two in one day.
For example...you could do The Short run at 9 a.m. and still get out for SOS at 1 pm on the same day...but there is no way you could do SOS & T2TR in one day.
Until we know what our Road Captain complement will be for each run we can't even set quotas.
But NO...you are not going to be limited to ONE run.....
but also...we do want to give everyone that wants..a chance to do the courses.
Hope i answered your question
keep 'em coming...this is very production for our planning process
You've answered my biggest question, can _I_ drive the T2TR (for me ) and the Amish cruise (for my wife ). I'd love to be able to get the SOS run in as well, but I understand wanting to give all a chance to participate that can. Perhaps I can come a day early or stay a day late and run any that I can't get in "officially."

I am committed to ensuring we get as many runs in as possible so everyone who wants to go on a specific run, can do it.
I will RC any run needed and have already mentioned that I am up for multiple runs per day (even a few short runs wedged on either side of a T2TR... not a burden... more fun time for me). I will also do any speed (aggro may not be smart. If there is a Howwee screech gone wrong, scratch all Howwee runs from that point on. until I get back from ER .); however, I may have to drag an anchor to lead a cruiser group (I already recognize that we will have a greater need for moderate or less).
Also, I can do training for T2Tr and SOS in the short run, but will also be able to do training on the other runs once I get them down (that is, once I memorize the color of each building at each turn and Master Mark has plotted the Garmin stuff).
In short work me like a dog (I have been accused of being one enough times anyway).

Steve..as you well know we limit both the TOTAL number of cars in each run but also by group.
If we hold to 8 cars per group we could do 40 cars per day safely.
That means we need 5 Road Captains per day...or we do 5 total..and make them Captain both days.
Also...these are public roads and we can't control the local traffic or cars, trucks, Amish buggies or lawn and garden tractors on the road...nor the animals found there also.
But by spacing out the Groups every half hour we don't form a daisy chain through any town.
