druid-2 : Thank you all for the inputs

JRinKY...you idea is good...once the mapping is done.
To do the short route...we can't use Mapquest in the beginning
because...bluntly...we don't know where we are going.

This is true of the past too...it's how we have always built the routes.....
it's called Trial and Error.

Currently we are "stopped" at Birds Nest"...our goal is to get to River road.
There are many roads we could use....we just don't know the condition of same roads...some may not be SOL-worthy....so we go out and drive each of those roads.....make a decision and when the
mapping is done..then we run it with video camera and install it on Mapquest.

Everybody is being so helpful already and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Keep them coming
I have found that the trial-and-error part involves fewer errors when an initial route is (or a number of potential routes are) plotted, but that is just my experience. We all do it in different ways.

D-2, you can put me down as a Road Captain. Probably T2TR, SOS or 555 would be easiest, as I've run them (the first 2 at least) before. But ultimately, anywhere you need me is fine.

I will try to make some planning/mapping/pre-run events, but my summer schedule is almost completely shot already, so it would probably be fall before I could fit in a weekend away to Ohio.

The one great thing about mapping days is "you can't get lost"
but you end up on some very interesting roads...

KUDOs to Mark for selecting Freedom Road...
and the ghost town is both interesting and tricky.

So today we sorta got three routes done in preliminary

We have the Short Run- Southern Loop
SLYGUY has perfected the Short Run- Northern Loop.

and now that we have the Northern Loop established (and to be validified tomorrow)
we will also have the Very Short Routedetails to follow

Today the mapping section of 555 WEST was completed
