We are mapping because there is no route.

So here is your assignment

Presume the following is true

#1...Start at mm71 on I77 (that is the start of SR751)
that is 7 miles north of the N-town exit

follow 751 down into W Lafayette.(crosses 36)
.turn left (South) on 93....
Follow 93 till you see the split for 83...take 83 to 662
Take 662 south to 209...Turn left onto 209 and follow it
East to SR 658...turn left (North) on 658 and follow it
to Bird's run and SR 541.

Now the challenge....

You want to end up at the River Road on 258 (that's right at I-77 overpass )

your job is to get from Bird's Run up to River road.... hopefully via the west side of I-77

There are a variety of roads.

Early Rd
Guernsey Valley...
Post boy....
8th St/Johnson Hill

you get the idea

The idea is to TRY to dump out onto 258 either at the biker bar or closer to the river so we can get onto River road and then to Pt. Washington and back to the highway.

If you get some scouting time you could save us time on Saturday.
Sorry for the late response. Just got back from another 700 mile plus trip (the old tires will be officially put to rest tomorrow. New paws for Alathea Monday). Will check against my scouting stuff earlier and see if i have something already logged. If not, at least i know the goal.

Checked maps.. Understand. I have done Guernsey (sp) back on a scouting trip (as i recall it was very good except for a very bad stop with a blind rise to the left for on-coming). Will check the others....

The focus will definitely be road quality. There are so many great twisties around there BUT many are barely two lane, have a bit of road marbles and have no barriers that would prevent one from plunging 50 feet or more to their death (the only time i ever had an "oh crap, i am going to die" moment where I didn't laugh was on one of those...).

Plotting stuff now and hoping to have the options worked out before the 30th. I am known for the Scottish symbols on my car and my tat, but I am Cherokee as well (which explains the ruddy skin tones, the dreamcatcher which is always close by and sun exposure which turns my color to red without ever getting a sunburn) . The latter side of me may be the genetics that love to scout.

Checked my notes.. Guersey to Salt Fork north is what i remember best.. have the alternatives logged and will check out before 5/30/2009. 8th street north is faster back from Guersey so it will come down to the quality of the twist past that point and the total length of time on the course...

It looks like I'll be able to come out and play . . . err . . . map with you guys on the 30th. I'll spend the night of the 28th in Valpo with my very, very pregnant daughter, then a fairly leisurely drive to N-town on Friday. Mapping with the crew on Saturday, and then return to Wisconsin on Sunday and maybe Monday.

Do either of the hotels in N-Town have "fitness centers"?

And that is a bad thing? hahaha

There are some differences. My preferred underwear is lined with feathers (his is fur with blue exposure..), I like to stir things up by moving the ladle counter-clockwise (he is completely clockwise), he loathes FBH's (I find them as a possible source for a younger "assistant" which could be a night time adventure), he likes to roar his pipes and smoke the tires (i like to smoke a pipe and roar even if what i am smoking smells like tires), he sees visuals as essential to road navigation (i see visuals as a sign of navigation to essential roads due south), he sees the Garmin as a tool (I see those who don't use one as a "tool".. He does use one.. haha), he...he.. oh crap.. nevermind.

HI has a fitness center (Don't know about the Pooper 8). Not exactly a major "gym" but good enough for me to get in some treadmill action to keep the legs up to snuff.

Thanks Howwee! That is exactly what I wanted to know. I hate walking out in the wild. HI it is.

That's OK, we'll get it mapped and ready for learning.

The new persona is in place so smtmr can go back into the closet 'til the next time I need him for a short while.

made some general comments on the other 2010 mappin g thread

but in essence HOWWEE is right.

Mapping is to determine the best roads via a Trial & Error process

Luckily we have not only Cherokee Howwee....

but I expect our local native guide (Sacajawea 18) will have
done some prior scouting and will be my navigator that day.

Hmmm.. Is she Shoshone as well and prefer the name "Janey"?

If she is in that neck of the woods on Friday, give her my cell so we can "divid and conquer" the area. I should be there around 5PM.
