this is where you put your commitment to 2010NASSM
It would be greatly appreciated if you would post here that you will RC and
which days you will do it (hopefully both).
This is going to require dedication, time and a lot of driving with no reward except the success of 2010.
To make it easier we have Kappa-geeks who will plot every curve and every road and load it into your Garmin for free. It may even have voice commands (not the obscene ones that HOWWEE uses either) and may include visual markers if possible. We hope to make this as technically advanced as possible.
We can't do it without a support network. This is your 2010 National and it is only as good as we ALL can make it together.
So, please, make it quick and painless. Sign up today !!!
D-2, I will RC both Thursday and Friday. I would prefer to lead either the SOS or 555-West Run, but can do T2TR if you need me to, as it looks like you anticipate a lot of T2TR run groups.

Just to tie onto this post (no Druid didn't ask me to post). My plan is to have all runs mapped in Garmin style so an RC can easily run a group (I have talked about making the Garmin say exactly what i want, etc., but it is all geek stuff to stretch between "what if" and "what is needed". i can safely say at this point that we can have Garmin route maps which will do what is needed to assist a RC.) I ran all of the last T2TR runs using a Garmin and a map taped to my steering wheel (Mark da Shark laid out most of the waypoints) and never missed a point (with the exception of one turn that Druid saw in a video and it was understandable.. I ran past the turn because my pack was not yet in line. Garmin pulled me back on the course).
For those who are thinking about being an RC but not sure (and maybe thinking they need a navigator), the Garmin solution will work.. Of course, a good navigator is a precious thing. If you are running a pack as RC with the Garmin and maps with no navigator, it is best to have an experienced #2 (shot gun) and sweep. i will sorely miss Dengel for the 2010 runs (she was a solid shot gun on one of my most memorable runs.. I shan't forget her efforts.) She will obviously be an RC this time around.
Sign up to RC folks.. We won't leave you hanging in the weeds and headed into places unknown without the best tech available. This will be mapped beyond any event seen to date in the highest available technology possible.... We just need people who are comfortable running in front, studying maps, directing folks and using available tech to make it happen (you can do it old school as well..).
As said before, i will be using the fall T2TR event to go over the national routes to map them and hook up with folks at the end of each evening. If someone is on the edge about being an RC and would like to do test runs during that time, i would be glad to have them assist on the mapping runs (or anytime in the spring.. Druid did that with me and i am sure he is cool with doing that for others). The fall T2TR runs on my part will be highly technical and not at "speed". i will be packing a route Garmin and a TomTom for Nav coordinates to log and lay in the maps later. Very meticulous stuff.. No fun... The fun is 2010 when people are on the runs and enjoy the efforts of those who made this possible with a bit of work.... It is easy to be a participant in an event... To step up and be a part of the event to increase the fun for everyone? Not many can respond to that bell, but it is needed and appreciated by those who also see things from that level.

Count us in! As long as I have the Garmin, I should be ok. I will also have a navigator, not sure who yet (you know how Brian, Tristie, Jimmy and I like to swap!)
We're planning time off next year, so hopefully we'll be available to make some pre-runs!
