WOW, This place is like my pay check. I don't even have to sign it. If someone wants my spot feel free to give it away. Way too soon for me to commit. (I don't even know what I am doing next week!!!!!!!!!!!!)
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'!!!!!!!!!! Got that from a junk e-mail but it works!!!
For those that signed up under the promise of a Garmin assist, you have my word, the maps will be built and tested before they are released.
The short term plan is to make sure the maps are dead-on accurate. The next step? Make sure hazard/fun points are clearly marked. E.g. there is a stop sign in Ghost town that troubles me. Also, many curves (like newbie hill, Church turn, Howling Hill, Karen's Corner, etc etc). I would like to have all marked but time will be the enemy. I will need to have exact Nav Coords to lay these into a Garmin Route.
The final stuff would be to have the Garmin call out the waypoints on the route in exactly the manner i want it to say it, organize each run under a picture that you just click, add mp3's, provide all of this on a "plug-in card" and etc etc.. The final stuff is way down the road. The important parts are in the next step plan (with the exception of the plug-in chip.. all mappings will be provided in that format. Just a matter of finding chips for a reasonable price for distribution).
This is really going to be cool.. Trust me.

Sounds like you're having fun with the Nuvi Howee. I've been playing with it's capabilities as well, but you seem to be well ahead of me. We're counting on you results to be good and fun. You can save all of the points you mentioned by just touching the screen while on a pre-run and saving the location. You can name them whatever you want.

Have removed you from our working list.
No disrespect intended.
You were not officially a Road Captain.
This list was merely meant to list the people I had hoped to count on
see excerpt from post #1 below I already know who I think I can count on, but now i want a commitment on paper.
(i.e. JR...i know i can put you anywhere)

Once the route is in MapSource it is a simple matter to create a via wherever needed. That via point can then have attributes (including voice prompts) added to it.

You really shouldn't need many chips, as most potential RCs will have access to someone with MapSource software, if they don't have it themselves. Then its a matter of email, copy, and load.

You're right.

We are on the same page kinda... PM me to assist in the development phase of these maps. I am a geek and am doing things beyond the limitations of Mapsource (I am a programmer and have learned the language at the base level). i always push to the edge and then try to figure out the best path for those who can't hack a Garmin and push it to the limits.
Mapsource is quite capable of building a "route" but there are "sub-route" issues that must be addressed when map refinement is needed for things like "ghost town" (mapsource does not do sub-route even though the Garmin is capable of that refinement. i can make it do that outside of mapsource)
My plan is to run the routes with a Garmin and lock in exact GPS coordinates in the danger points during the Oct runs (I will not be running with the pack... Doing a due diligence run to lock the coordinates in..).

It be you....you have sent me PM's to that effect.....
and now i'm creating a master list which will be e-mailed (outside) to you
shortly where you will have the opportunity to choose both your runs and your time slots too.
The good thing about this is we will then know exactly what training each person needs for next june

If this be JR, there are no issues regarding her driving skills. Perhaps she could assist me on the mapping runs in Oct? I could really use her expertise on that front.

Will await further communications off-forum. (now where is that little saluting-smiley?)
