We did fine without GPS for 4 years already. Most early RC's relied on memory...VISUALS... and written instructions too. I am a firm believer that repetition is also a fine tool....the more times you do something the better you get at it. Which is why I have left every weekend open from now on to sight-train anyone interested in coming to the event area.
I most certainly appreciate the efforts of all involved here to create a tool that many can use and by no means am trying to dissuade anyone from continuing this research. I think it is a most noble effort
Given that I also want any readers to be aware of the following
Owning a GPS is NOT a criteria for being an RC or attending a run.
Being able to download GPS information will be an option- It was never going to be and never will be mandatory.
We can't rely on memory or cognitive ability...last night I put the cat in the fridge and threw my beer out the back door.
Don't worry. When I got up in the morning and went to the door to let the cat in I saw the beers on the lawn and retrieved them and put them in the fridge.......Frisky is really pizzed at me though.

Oh good! I was worried you were dumping out the beers. But you were just putting them outside over night to cool. Good thinking!!! You're saving energy!!!

Location: buzzard..what buzzard..do you see a buzzard..I didn't see a buzzard...or that little sparrow either- or dat squirrel
OK...some interim information
61 cars registered and the RUNS are starting to fill up.
One big issue to be addressed is this
SATURDAY....
due to the Closing Banquet...car show etc...only 2 categories of runs
are being set up for Saturday ...both reasonably short ones
SHORT STACK (2 hrs)
START OF SPRING (3- 3.5 hrs)
all to be completed by about 1 pm
so far 6 entries for Short Stack...but 20 for SOS
we have scheduled 4 run times for each.
Short Stack does not seem to be a problem...we should have
about 20 cars for the 4 runs....maybe even reduce it to 3 runs
SOS....at 20 registered right now....this "could" extrapolate much higher......
but because we are holding to 4 runs ....the 32 spots are going to fill up and be closed quicker that any of the other runs/days
Problem is ...Only 3 people have signed up for Road Captains for Saturday's SOS...
SO I REALLY NEED SOMEONE TO STEP UP AND CLAIM SPOT #4
I'll worry about the rest much farther down the road
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'!!!!!!!!!! Got that from a junk e-mail but it works!!!
Feel free to adjust my schedule for the short stack or SOS runs on Friday or Saturday. I prefer to RC on just one day, but if it helps I can lead a run on both days.
druid-2 : we do not understand why Saturday is full and the other 2 days still have a lot of open capacity.
There are probably a number of people arriving on Friday, making Saturday the only day they have available. Combine that with less run capacity on Saturday, and you have a mis-match.
