It's never too early to start a Caravan thread.....
Gives people an idea of who else is going at the same time they are.
so here we go
One CAVEAT....pack food and water...in order to cover this kind of mileage there will be stops for gas and lavitories only. If you decide to have a sit down meal you can catch up at your own speed.
We will travel at the speed limit the entire time...so 70 means 70-72...nothing higher

Well, I might start the caravan with you guys, but you'll probably lose me at a food or bathroom break somewhere along the way. I don't do too well surviving on just granola bars for a whole day. I may feel the need for "real" food somewhere along the line. (And I pee a lot! )
I just ask that where ever you stop for dinner, save me seat. I'll catch up to you somewhere (so long as the Indiana troopers don't get me! )
On a more serious note, though, I'll have to look at your drive lengths each day. I may want to take a day or two longer to get there, so that there are less miles/hours of driving per day. Maybe meet up with you in Omaha for the last leg of the trip. I figure there's no need for me to laze around home all weekend, work one day on Monday and then leave Tuesday to drive like a Bat out of Hell just to arrive in Denver exhausted. I may as well take the whole week off and leave home Sunday or Monday, so that I can enjoy the drive a little bit more.
With all that said, I guess you can count me as a maybe for right now.

Diane...respecting the fact that you have an extra leg....
There will be food breaks...just not the big sit down kind.....everybody's got to eat.
On driving days I don't DRINK anything because i'm like you...gotta pee a lot
There's still lots of time to plan this out....maybe you and Solli can bunk at my place at the end of Day 1....but seriously too...what's the point of stopping at 4 pm...when there's 4 more hours or more of daylight and the opportunity to put another 300 miles under our belts

Well, it isn't so much stopping at 4:00pm, as getting to sleep in a little later than 4:00am.
I am more of a "late to bed - late to rise" kind of person. To hit the road at 6:00am, I would need to wake by 5:00am to have enough time for showering, coffee, etc. (Can't really skip those as I need to be alert enough to drive.) I don't usually go to bed until 11:00pm - midnight, and trying to force myself to fall asleep earlier than by body is used to doesn't usually work.
Five hours of sleep a night is simply not enough for me, and if I go with that little sleep for 3 days in a row, I'll be arriving in Denver with a head-splitting migraine.
Like you said, we definitely have some time yet to work out the details. We may end up with two packs of cars - one departing early, and the other leaving a little later and catching up at end of day.

I'm in for the caravan, I'm not an early riser for the most part either, but I can deal for a few days. 5 hours of sleep is usually enough for me, but that varies on the amount of activity in a given day.
