I just saw this post and have to say I'm glad your not hurt. I'm looking at the pictures and still can't understand how you came out without being killed. But, I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Get a GXP!
Oh Diane,
Thank goodness you were able to walk away with minor injuries. The photos are shocking it's hard to believe anyone could be okay after an accident like that. I'm glad that you are emotionally strong and want to get another Solstice. We hope to see you soon on another drive. Susan and Chris
Kudos to everyone on this forum, look at all the support we get from each other.
Lord, they blocked me from the site at work, so I don't come on but every week or so....
THANK GOD YOU'RE OKAY!!!
I found a reference to the rollover in the general topics, and thought I was going to go nutzo (okay, MORE nutzo) trying to get up a search to find out what happened & if you were okay.
I'm sorry for your accident, Diane, but totally thankful that you are okay! If you get a GXP, I'll have a harder time keeping up with you on the way home from next year's SOS run.

Thanks to Linda (gbslysol) at SoS, My Sol has a name!! She told me that with the stripes, every time she looked in the rear-view during the run, it looked like a giant ladybug was following them, so Ladybug is the name I've been searching for to call my Sol!
Well, I stopped by the dealer yesterday to talk to them about replacing my wrecked Solstice some day "soon"......
and ended up driving off the lot with a new GXP!
So here are a few pictures of the new car safely at home in the driveway.
Now I know some of you probably think I'm crazy for jumping up to a GXP, and less than a week after my accident no less, but I just figure it was fate - the GXP was the only Sly the dealer had on the lot - and I was able to get a good deal on it, considering.
List Price $31,509
negotiated - $618 off list
Pontiac Loyalty Rebate - $750 (only good til July 9th)
GM Card Earnings - $435
Final Price (before tax, title and fees) = $29,706
Which comes out to just over $1800 bucks off of a GXP. Maybe someone else could have done better, but I think I did okay.

Dianne,
Congrats on the great new car!
How quickly our fortunes change. Nobody knows that better than you. I'm still trying to clear my mind form visions of a very broken up dengel. In some alternate universe, the accident didn't go so well and the outcome was very different.

I don't think you are crazy.
Your accident illustrates for all to see that the base car has more than enough power to kill you, if you don't respect it. The GXP has more power which deserves more respect, but it is not the power that kills you.
This is why I laugh at the frequent posts on the Miata Forum saying, "my 170 HP car has more than enough power to get me in trouble, why would I want more power?" As if more power necessarily = more trouble and nobody in a stock Miata ever gets in trouble.
More power requires more respect, but if you respect the power you have, you reduce your risk of trouble. The maturity and restraint you have when the car seduces you into trying to test its limits on the street is what keeps you out of trouble. That seduction can be as powerful in a 177 HP car as in a 260 HP car.
Your new GXP will be at least as fun, even if not in the same way. I expect a full review. Many people including birdliver and Latinvenom felt that the GXP was better in some ways but really missed their old cars in some ways. You will have to give us your take on that as well.
Hip Hip Hooray, and Congrats, Diane!! I am sure you made the right choice for you.

Best comment so far about my Aggressive Sol, from a driver of a red S2000 in the small town I live near, "I thought I was going to have the coolest car for some time. Now, I know I am wrong!"
