So glad you are back and running again, Diane. Your Sly is gorgeous to match yourself, both inward and outward. Hope to see you again, down the road. Congrats on your new Sly GXP.

there is still something to be said for the miata/mx-5 be it only 170 hp. it took nearly 15 years to come out with a competitors roadster in roughly the same price range to be "competitive" in all the aspects that made the miata what it was. Solstice is that car, and it's proving it's worth already.

for breaking the mold on American roadsters
Some of my friends are die hard American made only, i tell them i would have gotten an american made car in a heart beat if were to be able to deliver everything my rx8 can for the same price. there isn't.

The solstice deffinatly has appealed to me, but i'm not going to convert more like adopt. maybe in the near future i'll aquire one. if not for me, then my wife (promised her the first new car, it's appealing to her as well)

Yes, I own an Rx8 and i'm on a Solstice forum.
If i were short enough to fit in a Roadster, the solstice would have been a very strong contender when i purched my Rx8.

But i still can appreciate a quality built sports care that breaks the mold for what America has to offer in this market.

Thanks. I really need to find out who originated that design so I can ask their permission to use it.

I agree that the MX-5 is a great car. I don't consider the Solstice to be a better car and I think there is plenty of room for more great cars like the RX8, 350z, S2000, Z4 and on an on. I have my preferences, but I wouldn't knock somebody elses choice in a great car.

My post refers more to Mazda's refusal to add a Mazdaspeed motor to the MX-5, which they even give to the Mazda 3. I know it would sell and it would add some renewed excitment to the Miata. I'm baffled why Mazda won't do it.

Jay Leno put it best when talking about Mazda, they are one of the few companies that fix the problem rather then throw more horsepower at it

You want to see a beast of a car, check out http://monstermiata.com/

similar in concept to the LS series engine swaps i saw browsing through the forum, just a Ford v8 insted of a Chevy

Big talk from a man who owns:

300 HP Mustang GT,
400 HP C6 Corvette,
not one but THREE Dodge Vipers,
425 HP Shelby Cobra,
440 HP Carerra GT,
478 HP Ferrari F40,
490 HP Lamborghini Countach,
543 HP Maybach 57,
520 HP Lamborghini Gallardo,
530 HP Lamborghini Diablo,
550 HP Ford GT,
571 HP Lamborghini Murcielago,
617 HP Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren,
660 HP Ferrari Enzo,
690 HP McLaren F1,

And a car with a jet engine!

Nah, the man's no fan of horsepower.

I think it is great when manufacturers offer fun, affordable cars. If offering modest engines keeps prices down, that is great too. But I don't see anything wrong with offering more power for those who want it.

Doesn't your RX8 has over 230 HP? Why is that wrong with giving the MX-5 that kind of horsepower?

No, the guy is no troll. He has his opinion and it is as valid as yours or mine. He did nothing to "troll".

Why do people bandy that word about so quickly?

I mean thanks for backing me up and all, but lets give him a little time to establish some history. I don't see any evidence of his trolling yet.
