we made it to piedmont SC yesterday and the gang at DDM(dave) got started on Saphire this morning. we went by this afternoon and they already had the header and hi-flow cat on. hopefully they will be done sometime tomorrow. then its off to the dragon.
see you all there.bryan
hey KYGXP and anybody else coming form the north through Knoxville. the detour on I40 is I640. its only about a 10 mile detour and then you can get back on I40.
As always we tell everyone to obey the traffic laws and not to do anything foolish.
Looks like the grace period this year is over. This past weekend was the Honda Hoot, Honda cororate sponsored yearly gathering of Honda motorcycles in the Smokies.
According to TOTD.com front page, THP has stepped up efforts and is cracking down on riders. They gave no info on cars.

Attendance was way down this year and we think the state's attitude towards motorcyling last year played a big part. Once again the actions of THP has cost the State of Tennessee millions of dollars in revenue.
The THP was on hand each day to do what they consider "enforcing the laws". Just after putting in a good word for them (SEE OPEN LETTER BELOW) they seem to be stepping-up their efforts once again to keep motorcyclists out of the state.
There were between four and six THP units on the Dragon during the Hoot and they were issuing tickets for such serious violations as 42 in a 30 (three years ago the speed limit here was 40 mph). These radar units park in sections of the Dragon where there are downhill straights making it difficult to maintain the ridiculous posted limit of 30 normally only seen in school zones. These "radar traps" are located at Tabcat Bridge at the north end of the Dragon (mile 11) and at the Little-Whip (mile 7.3).
All this enforcement has not reduced the accidents as claimed by THP in their glowing press releases. Most of these recent accidents are a result of inexperienced riders on hard to handle big cruisers that are going the speed limit. In other words accidents that enforcement cannot prevent. How about posting an abulance at each end with warning signs? That might put a little fear in some of these riders.
We have had several complaints this week. One rider was pulled over and cited for a helmet violation even though his helmet is legal in his home state. Another complained of being followed too closely across the entire Dragon by THP. Yet we witnessed an SUV over the double yellow by a good two feet directly in front of a THP car at the Little Whip and we pointed this out to the trooper, but he did not even pull the vehicle over for a warning.
And just when you think you've heard it all, the TOPPER occured in Shady Valley, Tennessee, home of the Snake, another popular motorcycle destination. Here a rider was ticketed by THP for "RIDING TOO SLOW".
We guess it is time to show some of the violations of THP again. Watch for photos coming soon.
Everyone behave coming in from the north!!!!

I am also heaeded out in the morning. I'm going to do a dry run of the Blue Ridge Parkway run on Thursday, just to check the roads for any problems. Shoot, that means that I'll have run the dragon again on the way over there.
We've been here since Sunday - it is BEAUTIFUL!! Took the tail to get tot he lodge - no problems at all. Yes, there were police but the bikers always warned us so it wasn't a problem.
Can't wait for ya to start getting here - everyone LOVES Lucy, can't wait to see their faces when the rest of you start showing up!
