Howard (SLYGUY) and I just had a 30 minute convo.
We share the same issues.. Volunteer RC with no navigator on unfamiliar roads. So we need either a navigator...or a very good seasoned #2 car to act as our support...calling out instruction over the radio ...advising on-coming traffic etc....the general stuff a #2 is supposed to do.
Also...SWEEPS....if only 7 cars long...should not be an issue...but still - would like a volunteer.
Also...I know the road instructions were cut and pasted from google maps...but both Howwee and i can't find any reference to BIO-breaks.....they will need to be built into any instructions before run day.
Howwee and i also discussed what to do with our two NEO-come-lately's regarding sleeping accomodations. We think that we have it covered...but if anyone can find a bed for GWG...that would be better than an air mattress.

I believe HOWWEE may be coming in Tuesday night also...and because he is a well-respected fellow NEO...I could move in with SHiNy for one night so that Howwee could have his own bed.
Also Kimmie dear...could we leave a little earlier so that Howwee and I could get out and run the loop once in the afternoon ...marking stuff down and creating our visuals

Okay.. we are on the same page. I changed my plans and will be traveling down the 4th and staying near a convenient "strike point". My plan is to arrive very early the morning of the 5th (talking crack of dawn). KYGXP may not be close enough for me to run this thing in both directions to get a good feel and map accordingly.
I am also having issues with Mapsource. Their program is PC specific and i may have to go back to the dark side to install it on a notebook for onsite corrections. If I can't do it, then we can always rely on someone getting exact Nav coordinates of critical stuff and I can hack the original files the make changes in notepad in the gpx files. Given that you are taking a team in one direction and i in another, obviously adds complexity to the issues of coordinating our maps.
What would really help is if "bio stops" were clearly identified on the major run map so I can lay that in regardless of the direction. The run is fairly equi-distant; therefore, the bladder retention time should be close regardless of the route rotation. If the bio stops are unknown, no biggy. I will just make that my focus on pathfinder runs.
This run is really awesome. Saw the vertical map from "bing". I really am pumped for this one and commend the organizers for an event that will rank up quite high on the fun meter and will be remembered for quite some time.. Well done folks.
Side note... Anyone notice that the town of Howard is near the northern point of the run and this is Cherokee country (the dragon follows the trail of tears)? I promise, I shan't scalp folks at any stops; however, I will also not apologize for a wolf howl at certain points. ;-)

HAHAHAHA... Oh the pain... You would give up a bed to me to sleep with Shiny?
My ability to travel long distances is well known and my desire to ensure this event runs smooth is simply my nature (a shared trait with you). Call me when you are close to the run coords Wed so we can integrate efforts. i will be there on Weds before you folks even get out of bed. Even if i was in my own bed and especially from a bed shared with Shiny.
Kimmie.. Leave normal time. You made me feather-lined underwear. Helping at what i do well is a small favor in return.

Well it was the least i could do...and the most honorable .....to our
illustrious NEO-North facilitator.
There are some things a man just can't walk away from.
the Ringo Kid (John Wayne):
Was just doing my best to bust your B's my friend.
Now, here is my path to Cherokee/Howwee central (sorry to those that presumed my double "ee" was just a shout out to my canine pets. hahaa). I will be arriving at the Holiday Inn in Cleveland, TN (I75 and St Rt 60) on the 4th. Plan to bed down early and then ride to ToTD land as early as possible on the 5th.. crack of dawn. Plenty of time to nail things down for the runs and still make a few diversions to collect artifacts for my private collection.
