but 300+ curves in 11+ miles requires TOTAL CONCENTRATION
we cannot be looking for cows or sheep...and stuff
Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry
When you drive the dragon in a hurry
You think I'm not aware of that?!? I'm thinking we won't be seeing any farm animals on this run anyway. And I kinda like my car, so I'd rather not do something stupid on this one.
I already told you...I'll keep the chatter to a minimum on future runs. Your points regarding the interferences it can create were duly noted.

That be ME, Oh boy things are going to be even crazier than normal now..........YOU WILL NEVER REGRET coming to the DRAGON unless I have to "COLD CO*k SOMEONE IN THE HEAD" other than that it will be super fun in MY BACKYARD this time!!!!!!!! WHHHOOOO YOOOOOO
Regarding the D2-ihawk exchange just now, it's a should be noted again, when running the Dragon, best to let your passenger enjoy the scenery. Drivers most definitely must maintain concentration on the road ahead of them. Never know what might come around those blind turns.
Farm animals on the Dragon: not likely, mainly the forest variety, deer, turkeys, even a bear or two.
Farm animals can be seen along the Skyway-Dragon loop in the 72 and 360 segments.
Diana, glad you'll be joining us. You won't regret it!!

Despite what Dino says or thinks...honestly...this one makes me a little nervous. I know how popular it is, and I also know one little mistake can be extremely costly. At the moment, I don't have a head set and I'm sure not going to want to take time to mess with a radio when I need to pay attention to the road on this one. So I'll be quiet on the radio.
To add to this, I know there will be a little party action, and I don't know what the schedule is, but my beverage consumption, especially prior to the run, will be similar to that in KY...minimal!!!! Can never stress that enough. You gotta have all your wits about you for this stuff.

Best way to run the Dragon the first time is to cruise through it. Use your trip into the area to get a feel for the road. Since you'll be coming in with a loaded car, (as I said on the 2008 thread, unless you detour out and come in thru the Skyway or around thru the Great Smoky Mtns. Nat'l Park, only way into the area from points north is thru the Dragon), best not to push things anyway.
As far as the party schedule, they are at night back at Fontana, after the day's driving is done.

OK, I'm feeling a bit better knowing that. So I'll get a chance to scope out the situation before any running and I'll know what I'm getting into. Actually, I used to travel for work and I've driven around that area before, but never taken the Dragon.
Thanks for the info.
